Default Help ASAP with CS4 Photoshop

Hello whenever I use a brush the only colors that I get are the background colors.
Like if I press on the image with a brush, its only going to use the colors in the picture. Please help. I'm desperate

    Image deleted.

I want to be able to select my own color, not like above.

Also I know you select the color from the background and foreground from the box at the bottom left, but that's seems to be ignored WHY? I'm so frustrated, I've spent 7 hours trying to figure it out, I've tried everything HEEELPP

:hmmm: So far i can see (aside the lousy quality of your screenie) you haven't a normal brush as active tool.
ATM you use the history brush (shortcut Y).

Push the shortcut B for the Brush or Pencil or check your toolbar.

    Regards A.U.
