Kindoms install issues

Basically i had kindoms a while back but never installed it so i tried to today and it told me i had to upgrade my version off MTW II to 1.3 (i alread had 1.2). So i let it try the update and i get this error message:
"Error: invalid or missing target C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\packs\data_0.pack".
I tried manually with the patch and still same error.
This is really driving me nuts and i tried playing MTW II and i just get an error message evrytime i start it up sayin " Unspecified error" so i reinstalled MTW II and tried again, with updates and all, i still get same error message and the same error when trying to install kingdoms. Anyone know a solution to this, please help me i am dying without MTW II lol !

Try installing it in a different folder. If you have vista that might be the problem.

yeh i have vista but how do u mean a different folder?

Vista being Vista and this game's installer being older than that, sometimes the two just don't like each other.

Uninstall the game, disable the UAC, and then install EVERYTHING at once. Short of mixing programs, it ought to go in the right folder. Also Vista, don't for get the Sega folder in the virtual store.

There is a sticky thread devoted to "Total War and Vista" at the top of this forum for a reason.
