    Default Glitches or something...

    Hey all...

I just got a new ViewSonic monitor, and a new video card (not sure about specifics, but I can find them out). Basically, the issue is this. Before this new monitor, the game worked fine. My screen was really dark though, and the old monitor was quite old so we got rid of it. Now the color works and stuff, but when I try to play the game, after about 2 minutes, all these strange glitches start appearing on the screen. Like, it seems like they are little rips in the game, I don't know how to put it. They get progressivly more numerous, larger, worse, and appear faster, then the game just crashes, my keyboard stops working, and then my monitor either turns itself off, tells me it has no signal, or just doesn't do anything untill I restart the computer. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    You have two issues.

Did your monitor come with a install cd? May need some drivers.

Your new sound card. Did you install its drivers? Did you go to its website and install the latest ones for it? Does the game recognize it?

In some cases, players have had to reinstall the game so it could find and use the new hardware and software.

Thanks for the advice... It turns out we had a faulty video card installed, so that fixed most of the problems. Now the only issue that I have is that every time I play I get a blue screen of death (I don't know if thats what people still call it haha but I don't know what else to say). I tried running Age of Empires 3, and that worked fine. So I know that it is no longer a problem with the video card, because before we got a new one, that game would not work either. So I think I'll try reinstalling Medieval 2 once I can find my Disc 2. If that doesn't work, I'll post it again.

No it didn't work. I sort of can't believe it. I uninstalled the game, took all aspects of Medieval 2 Total War off of my computer, then reinstalled it, installed the 1.2 patch, did everything right, tested it, and a few minutes in, I got a blue screen of death. Frankly, I'm done testing tonight, but I'll try installing the 1.3 patch tomorrow, and post what happens for anyone who cares

Perhaps you do not have minimum requirements?

I already checked... Unfortunately, I meet and surpass all of the minimum requirements. I don't know what to do haha. I think I'll take my computer in to have it checked out, because I really don't know what could possibly be going wrong. I have plenty of space left on my hard drive (86 Gig.), so that can't be it. Other than that, I think I may have to update my drivers. However, I don't know where to find the updates. I have an ATI Radeon 3650 video card, so if anyone knows where to find drivers for that, it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me

Being an onboard chipset (laptop?), you can go to www.amd.com and through their drivers and hope for a match. If it's a laptop you may have to deal with the laptop maker directly.
