Thanks FCG, the mod indeed focuses on Western Europe. CB also takes place in Western Europe.
If anybody wonders why the battle pics look gloomy it's because of the weather in game was a bit cloudy and was raining. Not because of my graphics mod.

441 AD, Narbo Martius, two Roman armies face two Visigothic armies led by a King and a Great Duke of that noble people. We were ready, steady and strong, Legions and Auxilia, nobody could break us.
They attacked, and attacked again, four times they launched their brave warriors against our shieldwall, but we were steady, no one step back, instead, we advanced on two sides ...
and when their King and then the Duke both died ... they fled and we cried Roma Victrix! as did the Ancient ... meanwhile the Gods were smiling over us ....
This Mod is wonderful!

can i ask...what are your GEM settings diocle ?......nice pics , regards![]()
Well, I'm using GEM (I'm addicted, I need GEM it's a drug, I cannot image my life without GEM ... beware it's a dangerous drug!) Historical Realism with bloom effects, about my settings I have all at max and lights slightly down .... but I would need to control my setting more carefully to give you a more detailed answer, Master Granto ...
I only slightly used GIMP to edit some detail here and there (Why Midnite and Rio don't correct the annoying Chri-Rho emblem that looks inserted into a black square box? also the Draco has a similar issue ...)

Late Roman Winter sports on the French Alps, year 442 AD, nice shields, beautiful helmets (GIMP-corrected Chi/Rho emblem), fearsome Draco and absolute fun in slaughtering brave Germanic warriors in the snow!

Hi Midnite, thanks! I love your work!
- I'm using GEM Historical Realistic with bloom, or sometime Blockbuster Aestate Cinematic.
- The issue of the Chi-Rho symbol on the Vexilla , probably it's a matter of some alpha channel forgotten somewhere but it's is absolutely annoying in the screens:
There is also the same issue, but smaller, on the crest of the Draco, here them both:

Midnite Praeclarus, here is the thread of GEM:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-(Version-1-0)
Sadly the previous versions disappeared and now there is the new one. Of course, you can work on the files, changing what you want, I've tried to do some modification but I messed up the files so now I'm using one of the previous versions without great changes. Try it! GEM is one of the most awesome works you can find on TWC, for me Med2 is really a new game using GEM!
Now a small scene from my last battle:
'Dertosa, 443 AD: 'Scent'.
Martinus was riding alongside the Draconarius just behind the Comes Sextus Claudius Avianus Symmacus, the battle was won and what remained of the immense Visigothic army was lying on the battlefield, the carnage was horrid and the first shadows of the incoming evening were not able to hide the unspeakable horror of the mass of corpses of Romans and Germans mixed in death everywhere you turned your eyes, but what was absolutely almost unbearable was the smell, the stench into which they were riding: Blood, decay, dirt, excrement, entrails of men and animals scattered all over field and the stench of sweat of thousands of men who had passed all the day trying to kill each other, it was really unbearable in the warmth sweltering heat of the incoming summer evening
- '... it's the most disgusting smell a man can imagine ...'
He was thinking the young Martinus, he was tired but also proud for his behavior during the battle, his first true battle in the Guard: when the Comes had given the signal by slowly lowering his right arm stretched forward, the Decurio cried: 'Percute!' and then the whole unit, as a single body, launched the horses into the charge, sweeping away everything that stood before them! Martinus didn't know how many men he had killed, it was like a collective madness, he needed blood, it was like an obsession, a need of death and blood and nothing else than blood, he used the sword until his arm was almost paralyzed by the pain due to the fatigue, he didn't remember how many heads he had split, how many arms chopped off, how many backs broken ... now he was tired and happy, he was happy but also disgusted by what he had done and by the spectacle all around him .... exactly in that moment he saw the oddest thing he had ever seen: In front of him, the Comes, slowly riding on his black warhorse, was taking deep breaths with the head slightly tilted upwards, he could see the large chest of the General rhythmically raising and lowering, Martinus could hear the sound of his deep breaths, and he was astonished, he couldn't believe in what he was observing, so turning to the old Draconarius riding alongside him, he exclaimed:
- 'But, what ... what's he doing?'
The Draconarius, who was working on the repair of a small chain of bronze that ensured the Draco standard to his belt, not even turning at him, answered only:
- 'The scent.'
- 'What? What scent? what are you saying?' - asked Martinus exasperated. Then, after a while, the Veteran continued:
- 'My dear boy, many men serve in the Army because they would not know what else to do with their lives, others serve for money and career, or for Glory or for adventurous spirit, some serve also for sense of duty or family traditions, but there are few men who serve because they love the job! Claudius Avianus belongs to this small group. He loves the war and the battle, he needs this horror, it is the only thing he loves in life. The battle is his drug, he is addicted to the nature of this carnage, he needs the battle as we need fresh water and air, only in battle he feels himself alive. Now he is alive and he is enjoying every moment of this day, this stench all around us, it's a scent for him, it's the Scent of Victory, Martinus.'
Martinus was astonished, now he was beginning to understand, but ... something was preventing him to advance on that way, probably it was the growing horror for what he had just started to see in his mind that was paralyzing his brain, then, more as a prayer than as a curse, he whispered:
- 'Jesus Christ!'
The Draconarius who had finished his repair, now was gazing at the young man riding close to him, and it was with a chilling smile and a cold gleam in his gray eyes, glistening under the heavy bronze helmet, that he hissed:
- 'Christ? No, this is not His Kingdom ....'
