    Default Ugh so frustrating

Ok so the enemy (kwarzeim sorry dont know how to spell) besieged my Turkish city. I attacked and killed all the foot soldiers, the only units left were a general and cavalry. With obviously no way to get into my city, they should have left, but they just sat there outside my city. I clicked x6 and waited a minute but it was clear that they were not going anywhere, using the last amount of soldiers I had left I charged them and died, losing my city. Is there any way to prevent this its so annoying. It happened before too where I destroyed an armies ladders and siege ram and they just stood there. Wow it is really pissin me off haha.

The easiest method is to set a time limit on your battles. That means the defenders automatically win after a certain amount of time. Other than that, use your soldiers to try and trick the enemy into coming closer. When they charge at you, quickly retreat back inside your walls and let your towers take care of the rest.

Not too sure if you can change the time limit, but I definately know there is an option to turn on a time limit. The limit might be set, or it could be changed, I'm not too sure sorry..

If i were you, i would reload the game and auto win that battle. you had the battle won fair and square. you lost because of a bug for the most part. i wouldn't feel bad about reloading and auto winning the battle.

if they have no siege equipment (ie capatults, trebuchets, rams, ladders, siege towers etc.) and your gate is closed and walls still standing you automatically win.
if they dont have any artillery and absolutely no infantry (not even archers) and your gate is closed and walls not breached you also win automatically

Yup axnsan is correct, it is a good idea to let them breach your gate sometimes so all the horses will run into your welcoming spearmen. I find it more annoying when all the foot soldiers rout and then the horses go off and live to fight another battle!

my advice is next time you do it, focus on destroying the towers, send a unit or two to each ladder only and focus the rest on making a 'mouth' on your side of the gate and let the enemy soldiers flood into it, by simply not destroying the ram. then the cavalry will charge in and die at the same time as the infantry

Same front, but against mongolians. Bridge battle, enemy shoots some, and then just sits on its side of river. Admittedly bridge bottlenecks allmost feel like cheating, but that is annoying.
I have not seen that often.
You can change time on and off in campaign map menu, but sadly not during a battle.

It will automatically go to a draw after some time anyway. I do not have a time limit either.

In my experience, if you out number your enemy (and you are given the advantage before the battle) in a field battle, the enemy army will just stand there and wait for you to make the first move. Maybe that is what is happening with siege battles too.

Say what? In my experience, the AI always attacks in any given situation.

The AI will only try to breach your walls if they attacked first. If you attack them while in the city you have to go out and attack them. Thats basically it.

If you sally forth, the enemy will never attack first or try and breach your walls. They will set up their ranks far away from the range of your towers, and wait for you to come out from behind your comfortable walls and gates for a field battle.

Yes, but that's a siege battle, whereas django333 and I were talking about field battles. I think we have some kind of misunderstanding here..
