    Default A challenge.

I was talking to a friend the other day, and decided to make a challenge on the site. Yeah its absolutely useless, so if you want to read something deep go somewhere else.

Anyway, I challenge anyone on posting a screenshot of gold-chevron peasants without cheating and without being on a free battle (AKA strategy mode screeny). I was seriously stating to him that it is impossible.

Well Gold level can be just level 7; so if you get them signed up for 7 crusades it would be possible for them to do so without ever being in combat. Peasants are rather effective, so I've heard , at defending walls so perhaps they could get experience that way. I can't remember recruiting peasants for so very long; they are by definition ignoble and tend to take up space unnecessarily. If you have to use peasants why not just surrender before the battle begins?

Peasants *can* be used as reinforcements or flankers if you're absolutely desperate. If I have them, I'll put them behind my main line and rush them forward when I see an encounter they could survive... often the extra numbers cause the foe to rout.

Also, using the crusade exploit shouldn't count... it's against the spirit of his challenge! I'll try this weekend.

I have killed more than one enemy general in melee by rushing in a unit of peasants. They strike at a ferocious rate and it is entertainly to watch up close. I would never have the patience to keep the same units around that long though.

Shouldn't be too difficult. If you save them for the decisive attacks and don't let them suffer too many casualties, they won't even rout! Go gold

If you use them to attack peasant archers and other peasants they might eventually get enough kills to get a chevron. How about swinging them around to the rear to intercept fleeing enemy?

Bleh, with peasant archers isn't that tough at all... all they do is shoot until they've run out of arrows for like a hundred battles.

i mean peasants. You know, the lil guys with pitchforks or knifes (depending on the faction) that usually rout just by seeing the enemy? yeah those peasants.

Peasants can kill 10 star generals.

Seven crusades, ill meet that challenge.

Yeah, so unless you want to add some constraints to your challenge, Reeve, it looks like it's very doable. With crusades and retraining it's a bit of a cakewalk.

Maybe add in the condition that the peasants can not participate in any crusades. Make it so that they peasants have to get their hands dirty with blood and earn their own experience. Now that, is a challenge.

Modify the game folders a bit and you'll have Peasant: Total war, in which there are only peasant units and bodyguards are accompanied by these.

Lol, peasants on donkeys... I find Peasants useless, seriously. I sent them into battle once, not against some tough-ass-bodyguard unit, no, against Border Guards, yes, BORDER GUARDS, which were already engaged in combat, and guess what happened? My peasants killed about 5 of them and the Border Guards killed 56. The bloody peasants attacked them from the FLANK! And even THAT didn't help... Peasants are useless... (Unless they have donkeys, of course. )

I usually actually recruit some peasants in the very early period to bulk my army. I found them to route slightly harder if surrounded by a ton of friendly troops(like when defending a gate or a breach).
Not to mention if you have them upgraded with leather armor. They can be quite hilarious.
