    Default changing morale settings?

for some really stupid reason that i can't quite explain, the main medieval2.preferences.cfg file suddenly reverted the "morale" line to "0" (which i assume means infinite morale? [also can anyone tell me how this might have happened?])
anyways, i started a late era danish campaign and got in a few turns (and these were some GOOOOOOD turns) and in a battle with norway, i discovered that the morale was off, so i changed the value in the preferences file to 1, and played again, except morale was STILL infinite! is there any way to fix this or am i going to have to start a new game??

If you're running vista, the actual file that the game uses might be stored as a "compatibility file" elsewhere and hence, your changes aren't making it into the game. Check the Vista FAQ sticky thread at the top of the SS forum for details.
