Persians OP?

The Persians (Kwarezmian Empire) seem so powerful. They made the Mongols their vassals and I as the Byzantines have to deal with them as my empire reached Armenia. Every time I encounter them, they have those damn Imperial Guards which are so damn strong and so numerous. Does anyone else agree on this?

Try the 6.2 patch. The Mongols will rip them to shreds in that. Ofcourse, because it makes the AI a bit more aggresive the Persians tend to expand even more before that!

6.2 isn't savegame compatible. It changes too much.

I have never seen the Mongols survive the war against the Kwamerzarians in the late games I played. They always overran them sooner or later.

Yet once you face them in the field, it's gettting easier, since in most of the Persian Empire you can hire: MERCENARY ELEPHANTS... Which totally rock.

In the couple of late era games I'm playing, The Great Kahn takes four or five cities from the K Shah then does'nt have enough left to whether the counter offensive. Bye Bye Great Kahn....

Whenever I play the Byzantines I cringe at the thought of 2 or 3 well composed Stacks coming via Jhad to Constantinople from the K Shah....

Indeed, Shah is a tough sonofaninfidel. Always biggest army on the map in my games plus fast Citadel in Alamut. I really have to play them again one of those days.

The Persians never become a major threat in my games. They are generally the first faction to go, or if they do beat the Mongols, I find them usually content to only expand their empire to the east of the Holy Lands and slightly into Russia and Arabia, before being content with squabbling over some border regions with the Turks and Egyptians.

No No.. Dude I was being straight up....My 6.2 did'nt take properly so I'm still playing off of Base SS 6.1. So then probably they killed off the FM's. that's what happened to me when I played the Horde...

Ah, right. Well, in my games the Shah just seems to be unable to get his empire up and running in time, so entire Persia goes down the crapper as soon as the Khan's henchmen show up in the east.

Actually the ruling dynasty of Khwarezmid Empire was very Persian in their culture, language and I believe even identified their empire with ancient Persia/Iran. I'd call them Persians even if they originated from Turkish slaves.
