    Default end turn takes forever.....

    like the title says.
the end turn takes me around 2 to 3 mins.
    its too damn long.
i manage to workout and fell asleep after each turn....
any ideas on how to hasten it?
i have played other mods like DLV and sicillian vespers,
not that im ungrateful or anything but SS is slowest

ps, an error on the map.
bridge battle between toledo and burgos.
map was designed in such a way that my guys land on the bridge and die before even i have a chance to deploy my men.
and the same for the enemy.
90 % of my guys go for a swim in the river for nothing and the enemy and me cant move after deployment.
please take a look in this map error.
    i luuuuuuv bridge battles.

can some1 direct me on the recruiting restrictions work?
i cant seem to hire archers.
my armies are like half mercenaries.

and how do i turn the permanent arrow off?
    it just looks irritating...

all in all. wonderful mod here kingkong!
    congrats on the award.
    well deserved!

The guides are in the respective threads in the submods forum.

And your question about the turns taking longer has been asked many times before. Please use the search function before posting.

    please post more helpful links.!
if the search function didnt come up of 11 pages of "topics" i wouldnt be asking here. DUH!

    1]where are the guides?
2]where are the topics on end turns?
3]i just downloaded the 6.2 patch and lo behold! my save game cant work now.
4]which ones are the commissioned, compatible and recommended patches or mods with kong's SS? and which ones are flaky and not saved game compatible?

wouldnt it better if the answer was passed forward on the next post by someone who does know it rather thantelling others to search the hundred of pages of irrelevant stuff?

ps clivus, bolding your text doesnt help at all.

    Kensai,

Here is what I would do,
    1. You need to remove SS completely, do a defrag and use a CCleaner to tidy up.
    2. Install SS Part 1 and 2 and 6.1 Patch all twice as the installer can miss things.
    3. At 6.1, tick which of the sub mods you want to have. If you opt for BGR3, this will slow down your game, its just the way it is. If you don't want the Perm arrows don't select the tickbox. RR does not slow the game too much, but I love it, makes the game more realistic.
    4. If you want 6.2 ,again install twice, but all boxes on 6.1 should be left UNTICKED. No Sub Mods are compatible, 6.2 is not compatible with the majority of sub mods.
However you could install Point Blanks RR released 17 Jan from sub mods section as it is 6.2 with RR and extras. I am using Crimson Tide and Burning Man currently with no probs.

As for guides check BYG BGR4 thread for all you want to know about BGR and I believe that when you install RR, there is a user guide that comes with it.

    Hope this helps.

    1]where are the guides?
In their respective threads in the submods forum like I said. In case you can't find the submods forum, here is the direct link to the BGR thread. The guide is at the bottom of the first post. It's a PDF: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=106060. There should be an RR guide in your SS\data directory.

2]where are the topics on end turns?

It appears the search function isn't working at the moment. Even searching for general terms that have to be in the forums arent' bringing up any results. You'll have to go through the pages manually I'm afraid.

edit: I reported it and it has been fixed. Doing a search for turn length got me at least two results. This is the better one http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ht=turn+length

3]i just downloaded the 6.2 patch and lo behold! my save game cant work now.
From the very same line as the download link of 6.2:

    FileFront: http://files.filefront.com/graculRC4.../fileinfo.html, NOT save-game compatible
It's not like you weren't warned

4]which ones are the commissioned, compatible and recommended patches or mods with kong's SS? and which ones are flaky and not saved game compatible?
There are too many to give a definite list. Your best bet is to look through the submods forum and see what interests you and then find out what those mods are compatible with.

wouldnt it better if the answer was passed forward on the next post by someone who does know it rather thantelling others to search the hundred of pages of irrelevant stuff?

These questions get asked many, many times. Sometimes even daily. The people who answer them have answered the same questions many, many times. If people used the search function (when the search function is working that is ) before posting then we wouldn't have hundreds of pages of irrelevant stuff. Besides, give a man a match and he's warm for a minute. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

And that way in my head it sounds like the voice of Thulsa Doom!!

for me it helped a lot to disable the shadows at the campaign-map. Now the ai-turns only last 1 minute or less

Reduce all the graphics and turn off shadows on campaign map.

Make sure u dont have alot of background programes running. Virus scanners , MSN , Yahoo etc etc

Press Alt+tab+delete and goto processes's then right click M2TW process and set priority to high.

    Play between 1-2 hours.

Then restart your computer if u wish to keep playing for another 1-2.

All of those seem to improve times quite alot. Playing for long periods i ussualy find my computer gradually slows up over time and after a restart im back at full speed. No idea why that is.

    What does this means?

    1) remove scripts and destroy factions

How can i remove a factions to make the turns faster? Do I just to delete the factions-name in the dest_stat file?

And how to remove the scripts?

    Thanks and greetz

It means that you destroy factions by conquering them in-game, not taking them out of the game.

And as for removing scripts, you delete sections of campaign_script.txt in Stainless_Steel_6\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign. BUT make sure you only delete the ones specified in that other thread or you can totally bork your game (and take backups before you do anything!)

Is that not Alt+Ctrl+Delete? Idk about macs but that's how I get to the task manager(before I got antivirus2009's virus -_-) and from there I got to processes and made MD2TW a priority.

Also i have noticed the same thing with the restart. Generaly whenever I run things too long, including the computer in general, things begin to slow up. Weather somthing is collecting or not a fresh restart to the program and sometimes the computer helps most of the time, and it can't hurt!
