    Default Guard mode for pikemen

    Does anybody know how can I force pikemen to be in guard mode? If I remember correctly i can be done by adding something to Battle config files,but i cant find what..... thanks for any response



    looks like i found it:


    in formation_ai to have all appearances of phalanx in melee_default_state set to defend

    (0.00001 for phalanx time in battle_ai_config should help phalanx forming)

    strangely as it sounds, i kinda cannot find the proper way how to use that defend stance.... looks i will have to dig more about this...

    how to actually implement it... because so far i was not able to put it in formation file - it just always CTDs..

    Did you try this line from the EDU?:
    attributes sea_faring, hide_forest, can_withdraw, pike
    Comes together with this line:
    formation 1.2, 1.2, 2.4, 2.4, 8, square, phalanx

    Uh?? JaM, this is confusing for me... I repped you for your OP because what you said worked perfectly! I'll upload the formations_ai file if you like.

    @Gigantus, he means getting the AI to use stand ground with phalanx units. I thought it was disabled in kingdoms and was grumpily putting up with the AI being crap with pikes but then JaM just solved it for me completely. What a hero!

    edit:

    I just uncommented all the "default_melee_state defend" lines under "unit_type<3 tabs here>phalanx" in formation_ai and now pikes are working properly again

    Oh btw there are typos in your first post, mate. "melee_default_state" should be "default_melee_state" for one.

    I can't find this line "default_melee_state" which is referred to pikemen in the descr_formation_ai.txt.


    could you help me or upload the formations_ai file? thankyou!
