Default Obama asked about A-Rod scandle?

If you missed the press conference, in between questions about the war and Pakistan, Obama was asked about the recent admission by three time MVP Alex Rodriguez of steroid use.Obama answered in all seriousness.

After last years Mitchell report on steroid use in baseball (the same Mitchell who is now special envoy for Israel-Palestine), and the congressional hearings, is baseball now the fourth branch of government?

Is it really appropriate for the government to be this involved in baseball?

If these accusations about Mr. Rodriguez is true he well be punished by your government. My Lord has not seem this press conference and niether have I, however, abusing illegal substances is subject to law. Although, my Lord is unsure why they would ask your president.

Obuma has nerve thats for sure. Talk about a hypocrite. So Arod is a role model and a bad example to kids for doing steroids but the President of the US doing Cocaine is just honky Dory. Just like getting Bjs with Clinton. Thats not sex.

Obama was involved with gangbangers and drug dealers in his teens, he frequently snorted coke.

It means people can change. Obama got out of that lifestyle when he went to college.

    Obama is the man!

There should be inquisition for conservative Republicans. I just cant believe they keep ing calling for the implementation of policies (ing tax breaks) to solve the economic crisis that had already been tried in the past 8 ing years which might have helped to cause this current crisis in the first place.

    Shame on you all!

Baseball has an antitrust exemption that other professional leagues do no enjoy. There is a price to be paid as part of the deal. Baseball is not the 4th branch of government, but it is important.

For those interested -- Pres. Obama's remarks:

“I think it’s depressing news on top of what’s been a flurry of depressing items when it comes to major league baseball. And if you’re a fan of major league baseball, I think it tarnishes an entire era, to some degree. And it’s unfortunate, because I think there are a lot of ballplayers who played it straight.”

“What I’m pleased about is major league baseball seems to finally be taking this seriously, to recognize how big a problem this is for the sport, and that our kids hopefully are watching and saying, ‘You know what? There are no short cuts, that when you try to take short cuts, you may end up tarnishing your entire career, and that your integrity’s not worth it. That’s the message I hope is communicated.”

I read nothing in this that is not apropriate. The reporter asked and the President answered.

The President of the US has been involved in sports since Teddy Roosevelt ordered Football to adopt pads since it was too dangerous before hand (and if TR says something is dangerous...).

    Just hypocritical

Has he tarnished the presidency and the entire era because he did coke? Remember the fuss over reports GWB used to do it?

Yeah and? The difference is that it seemed like GWB's pot-smoking habit continued into the White House.

Why was my reference to Obuma being a smoker removed? He smokes ciggys and I asked if he smoked in the oval office and someone took it out. And now told to cool it?
