All good Mods need epic quotes, So I decided to start a thread where we could possibly have them gathered up!

    I'll begin with an epic one from Kublai;

One of Kublai Khaghan's decrees; "If you wish to subdue people before or after me, If having seized the body, hold the soul, If you hold the soul, where could the body go?"

    Source-Qubilai Qa'an and Phags-Pa bLama, Sh Bira

I am quoting this directly from an already existing thread in the Dev forums:

    have some as well

"Do not weep. Do not notify my men of my death. But beat the drums, blow the trumpets, raise the flags. We are still fighting; finish the enemy to the last one"
Amiral Yi Sun Shin at his death-

Anyone can give up- its the easiest thing to do in a battle. But hold it together while everyone else would understand if you fell apart. That is the true strength
Amiral Yi Sun Shin rallying his men at Myeong Dong

A man can live 40 days without food, 3 days without water, and 8 seconds without air, but only one second without hope
General Kun Mi during the invasion of the Mongol Khanate 1180AD

To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting
Sun Tzu- Art of War Volume II

Why do you needlessly march out of formation at the eve of battle- for I tell you- true courage is not shown physically but is the mental victory to conquer all fears in an act of duty
Wanyan Nianhan General from the Jin Dynasty 1173AD

..For his men followed him, and his sharp eyes made even the demons crawl out of the very formations of men
Taira no Munemori- Genpei Chronicles pg211

Never in history has out state suffered much chaos
Tran Hung Dao at the third Mongol invasion 1287 AD

I don't think you should have too many Sun Tzu quotes, I think it might get a bit generic

Why are you quoting Yi Sun Shin when he's born ~400 after the time-events of this mod?

    Just wondering.

Our quotes section will focus on Asian-themed quotes of a Total War or philosophical nature from various periods in time pre-modern. If we limited ourselves to just the timeframe of our mod, we would not have a lot to work with.

My favorite quotes from Miyamoto Musashi - 五輪書 (The Book of Five Rings)

You should not have any special fondness for a particular weapon, or anything else, for that matter. Too much is the same as not enough.

In battle, if you you make your opponent flinch, you have already won.

You win battles by knowing the enemy's timing, and using a timing which the enemy does not expect.

In strategy your spiritual bearing must not be any different from normal. Both in fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm.

As one man can defeat ten men, so can one thousand men defeat ten thousand.

The way of the warrior is resolute acceptance of death.

Could the range of Quotes be narrowed down a bit? Like I could understand having three to four Sun Tzu quotes, but to me adding romance of the three kingdoms quotes or han dynasty quotes seems silly. Same with Admiral Yi sun shin. If perhaps the range of quotes could be narrowed from the late Tang to Early Ming for general/ other politician quotes, with much more emphasis on the time period.

Say like 5 max quotes from Sun Tzu should be taken, otherwise it woulfd seem generically azn mod quotes, or something like that. Once i finish my tests in may I would be able to research much more heavily on quotes of this era if you would like.

Well there are a lot of Sun Tzu quotes, and it is tempting but using too many of his is a little wrong

It is a useless life that is not consecrated to a great ideal. It is like a stone wasted on the field without becoming a part of any edifice.
