To be fair, if the brilliant modding community here keeps going as i suspect it will i won't forget about this game when ETW comes out

BTW i still play Rome and Medieval from time to time......although Shogun doesn't run on my laptop anymore

I'm currently engaged in a long campaign playing as the Papal States, and I suspect it'll be my last before Empire: Total War. I was aiming for the "control 80 provinces" goal(without auto-resolving a single battle), but since I've already passed 120 turns and only controlling around 14 provinces(yes, yes, I've been slacking too much) it seems impossible. The game itself is turning out to be quite different from all of my other games. France, which usually takes a leading role in my games, has been torn apart by a simultaneous war against me, England, Milan, Spain and Denmark. And the Mongols are really doing something for a change, they have driven the Russians to Helsinki and they control nearly all the provinces around the Black Sea...

I'm really suprised though about the frequence of which catholic countries declare war against me. I think I've been locked in a war against Venice and Sicily since turn 10, and later Portugal joined the club. The strange part is that each time they have offered me a peace treaty, or they have been reconciled, they declare war on me the turn after...

I have to say it certainly won't be my last campaign as I have absolutly no interest in Empires Total War (no interest in the era at all)
People said the same about Rome and its still going strong
Only thing that will kill Rome is if a better Rome based game comes out and the same goes for Medieval Total war

A short lived surge of interest then everybody will be back to their fav games

I can never leave this game because, I dont think Empires will be as memorable, since its mostly Gun warfare i dont think the whole slugfest and cavalry charges will be as big of an impact as they have been in all other TW games

Im well into my sicily campaign and its the best ive ever had, sadly, i think i might move on to empire when it finally marches through my door. Hmm... you know, its funny, the only game that can beat a total war game is... a newer total war game. This series is its own competition. That says something about CA.

Since I still play Shogun when I want to finish a campaign in one sitting, my choice is missing in the poll. I am not undecided and I will continue to play M2TW. Current campaign (just started a short campaign) is Portugal.

My beloved France. One of the first factions I played and stuck out the campaign with. I will undoubtedly play a few more French campaigns in MTW2 before playing France in Empire.

Saying goodbye!!??.....No chance in this world. I am not going to say goodbye to my beloved M2TW, SS, BC, Kingdoms, etc. Never!!!
Doesn't matter that ETW is coming out, still the hardcore fans will continue to play the middle ages and ancient period as well.
Me personally, I am perfectly happy with the notion where I know that I can choose what to play at any given time, so if I choose to play the ancient time it would be: RTW, RTW:BI, RTW:Alexander, RTR, and ROMA SURRECTUM 2.0 when it gets released.
When I wanna play middle or dark ages I will happily go for: M2TW, Kingdoms, SS, BC, and their expansions and new mods such as Tsardoms:TW and Ferrum Aeternum.
Finally, I will now have chance to play the 1700s and musketry and sea battles of that age which is beautiful. But it will not prevent me from playing the first two eras, simply because it's much more of a pleasure knowing that you can cover that many periods of history in our beloved TW games and that new mods will always keep on coming out!!!

I still have a campaign in MTW with the Byz going. I'm writing an AAR for the Byz in MWT 2. I'm tooling around with Rio's for RTW. I'll buy ETW to see how Gustavus and the Swedes will own the Germanies and Russia, or to check out the American Revolutionary War. However, I'm not as excited about ETW as I was with MTW 2. Considering I still play all the other CA games I have, I'll never abandon MTW 2. (until MTW 3 comes out, and then we'll see).

Just started my last one as Egyptians. Wanted a nice easy last campaign to remember the glory of M2TW. Took over all of the Levant and Asia minor and was about to start fighting my way into the Balkans. Then the Mongols came. And I haven't had the nerve to go back to it in like 2 days. I think I'm gonna start a new last campaign...
