Well, do you? Are you planning to buy some? If you or your family holds something that's valuable, can you share a story about it?

Personally, I may get something like, an 18th century map and probably frame it on the wall, I don't know.

p.s. Post pictures if you can, that would be great!

p.s.s. if this thread is in the wrong category, I apologize. Please feel free to move this where it belongs, thank you.

I want a musket too but I dont think I can buy it in Hong Kong, maybe getting a 18th century costume is easier.

Haha I don't plan to buy any 17-18th century weaponry, Why would I?

My grandfather has a muzzle loaded firearm, but I don't know if it's genuine.

My uncle gave me a civil war era revolver and a late 1800's breach loading rifle..or that might be from the early 1900's..it was used in WWI.

My grandmother has a japanese sword which was dated from around 1800 that my grandfather got in WW2 when he was the highest ranking british soldier present and a Japanese officer gave it to him as a symbol of surrender. Well, that's his story, but he probably just looted it, lol.

Other than that the closest thing I have is that my local is called The Marquis of Cornwallis because it was set up by a soldier who served under him. There's quite a few places named after generals of the time because they used to give their retiring soldiers money to set up pubs.

    Interesting.

Can you post picture of your items, if possible? That would be great.

    I've got a circa 1740 French porcelain statuette/quill holder of a cherub-esque infantry officer.

I've always wanted to have my own private collection, but I can't really afford to buy antiques and they would get very very very dusty.

I have 2 muzzle loaders that I hunt with. One was made only a couple of years ago and fires 50 caliber balls.
The second one is a .75 caliber and was made in 1851

Both are percussion cap. Killed an Elk my first time out with the .50 cal. The older one is heavy and not easy to carry.

Well... no weapons (from any era, thats illegal here).
I inherrited a couple of coins (early versions of the guilder) from my grandfather (being the first son from the only son he had - there is a bit of a torch here). In the 18th century it would not have been worth a lot, but now I'm guessing these are worth a couple of hundred euro's.
