    Default Recruitment system.

Let me know if I've missed any guide.

Just wondering how the recruitment system works. I can't seem to recruit the better units from my fortresses and citadels. Does it naturally just take a very long time for the units to be available?

IF you hover your mouse courser over the unit your inquiring about, it should reveal a list of cost, time to recruit (make), and availability (due to population or if you have to establish control over the region if just conquered). You should have full availability within 5 turns of conquering it, but the number of stacks able to recruit depends on population/garrison level.

Leave it to the modder to perfect the works of the paid developers for no profit at all.

    follow up question.

I am very new to modding but not to medieval 2

I just started my first campaign, early byzantine
about 45 turns in, as far as elite units go, i have managed to train one byz cav unit. thats it, thats all that was available.

economy is strong, lots of population etc.

    my question is,

does the mod limmit you to such an extent that you basicaly fight the war with mainly militia units?
    Is this a bug?
what strategies can one use to increase the availability of elite units, by elite i mean anything better than garrison fare?

thamk you in advance for any help.

    Vimy,
Basically if you have installed BGR3 and RR, on 6.1 installer, then you need to consider the following:
    1. High end units will require Generals with the correct traits to be present in the settlement.
    2. Units will become available at the correct time in history. e.g Platemail, Gunpowder.
    3. It will restrict your ability to recruit too many of a certian type in a short period of time.

My average army comprised 20-25% elites, 30-35% militias, 50% mercenaries.

IN Medieval times a King would rely on mercenaries inhis army to make up the numbers

Vimy you should check out the Byg's Grim Reality and RealRecruitment threads in the submods forum for details on the recruiting when using those submods

Oh and if you have installed Byg's mod with the 6.1 installer, there is a patch that you need to download at the bottom of the first post in the Byg's mod thread in the submods forum or you wont be able to recruit a lot of units. Unfortunately that patch isn't savegame compatible.
