Default Great siege here. after >Unspecified Error and Crash.

Hey, I just got my first CTD playing SS. Story of the battle below.

My computer didn't lag or anything. The music just stopped and the screen went into windowed mode and it gave me the message to click "ok".

Said something like "Medieval II TW experienced an unspecified error and shut down".

Does this happen sometimes with the mod? I haven't crashed before playing on vanilla.

Thanks for the mod btw. I had just finished getting my butt handed to me in a siege. They kept their spearmen back and had their archers way out on the edge of the walls flanking my forces' entry. I managed to get my general around their spears and attacked their archer cav in the city center. Lost my general in that fight(but killed theirs as well as the unit) and they were able to mop up my infantry and archers with their remaining spears/archers. I tried a desperate charge with my ranged cav that I had managed to get in, but they all routed. Should have kept them up at the center.

Anyway, it ended with my forces routing and my generals guards killing quite a few of their archers in several charges before they too ran.

I was shocked as this isn't the first time I've played this mod, but it was the first time in a LONG time that I had been outwitted by the AI.

I guess I get a second chance. Should I auto-resolve or fight it over again and try to win?

Ohh, and how often should I expect those errors? I played many rounds as Lithuania and had no crashes or problems. I hope it isn't something that starts and gets worse (why do the Total War series do that so often?). Thanks for listening.

I've only ever had one crash either, and I've been playing since '06.
As for the Paladin, the battle with the Dragon isn't the danger, it's the battle in the heart that he must be wary of.

I get occasional crashes, but it's quite rare. It's been a very long time since I last got one. Hopefully this was just a fluke for you.

As far as the battle, I guess, consider a second chance to go back and do better.

Thanks guys. I just wanted a little feedback.

My old computer could barely run vanilla and it hard locked all the time.

I've gotten a little neurotic about it now hehe.

It's extremely rare for me in medieval total war, but iff you're getting neurotic about a single crash be sure to avoid Rome total war and its great mods: ctds are happening 1/3th of the time after a battle there and no awesome pc specs will save you there .

Well, I had another CTD. Playing as the Byzantine Empire btw. I wonder if it has something to do with the faction or something that exists in my current campaign. I generally can't play when it crashes like that because it breaks the relaxation and enjoyment of taking some time to play.

Anyway, is there a way for me to send feedback when I crash to help with the problem?

Post the last few lines of your system.log.txt file in the Bug Reports forum along with a description of what was happening at the time of the crash.

Also check out the Expanded FAQ too (will also give you some hints about the system.log.txt file too) http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=176298
