    Default Is this normal?

Newb here. I am on turn 12 (medium difficulty) and no country has declared war on anyone. Is that normal? About what turn can I expect war to break out between countries? Thanks!

Yes, that's normal. In most of my campaigns war breaks out between the Turks and the Byzantines in the first twenty turns, and also between Denmark and the HRE in the first few turns. But if you want war right now, just attack a neighboring faction.

At VH, wars will be declared quicker, but please try out stuff yourself before starting a thread out there, which is meant for most people who start threads here.

Eggthief, what's wrong with a new player asking a fairly simple question? If there was honestly a problem with this thread I'm sure a moderator could come along and delete it. Personally I've never really considered when wars start breaking out in campaigns on any difficulty.

Although I have idly wondered when they do start happening, I never remember to take note when it actually happens. As eggthief said, wars will happen sooner on higher difficulties. On medium the computers are fairly passive until later in the game I do believe so if you're afraid of being attacked just throw up some watch towers to keep an eye out for enemy movements and maybe place a couple of forts to make it hard for aggressive armies to get past to your cities.

There's my two cents, hopefully its remotely useful.

It is good if they don't start wars early. That means they won't drive their early economies into the ground, hampering their technological advancement and it also gives you time to develop your faction slightly till war begins.

Good question and an interesting point
on very hard I have had them by turn 12ish mind you by turn 15 once 2 factions had been excommunicated by the pope (Venice and Sicily) whilst I was playing as England

Very normal in the vanilla campaign, no matter what difficulty you put it on.
