Biggest number of campaign-battle kills

Some time ago, I was running a siege of Kiev with the Turks against 2 huge armies of the Kievans, consisting mostly of low-quality spears. Since I thought they would overwhelm me at the walls, I took a defensive pocket position on the main square. Behind my infantry line (flanked by musketeers) I had one mangonel. It got a good number of nice shots off on the Kievans who were massed around their archers (combination of firing archers, advancing troops and routing troops huddling together).

End result: 1502 kills for my mangonels.

So tell me: What is the highest number of kills (excluding captures) for you in any campaign battle?

once in a battle with the hungarians, they had some poor quality archers, all massed togheter in a very tiny square . the rest of their units were engaged with my main line, and i pulled my faction leader on the flank... and charged the archers head on.
result: 800 kills for my 40 bodyguards, total kills 1900

You guys are right.

I used Mangonels against crusaders when I had no Naffatun yet and the result shocked me. They are a really terrifying weapon in defending cities conditions. One good shot and you score more than a unit of crossbows on the walls.

My General's Bodyguard just inflicted 4087 causalities against Scotland. It was an assault on Edinburg's walls with 3 stacks in Scotland's defense. Their army was pretty well balanced combination of pikes, nobles, knights and archers. only two units of rabble. Biggest battle in my experience ever. My Generals kicked ass, killing 3 of their generals and taking their capital.

It was crazy because out of nowhere half of their force was actually flanking my army from outside of the walls. It was a close battle.

when using magonels in siege defense it works wonders to put a crappy unit just inside the gate, so when the enemy tries to enter the city they all get bunched together and try to push through your unit, then you fire your magonel at close range.....if you are lucky you can take out half the besieging army with one volley from your magonels

Oh, they absolutely are. The AOE of their barrel burst (the barrel hitting the ground, not detonating in the air) needs to be drastically reduced. I can't tell you how many siege or bridge barrels I won against obscene odds because I had a unit of mangonels sitting ten feet behind the melee.

I think that the Mangonel is an example of a unit that can be very powerful when used correctly. I have tried them in the field, but there they are not nearly as powerful. It's all about bunching up the enemies in a small space. Cities are ideal for that. Once you get that situation, artillery starts to shine, not just the mangonel. 300-400 kills is not that strange for these units. The same goes for Elephant Mercs.

Similarly, well used heavy cavalery in a large infranty fields battle making repeated charges against the exposed back of an enemy infantry line will be deadly.
