Police stupidity?

Three Malmö police officers have been reassigned for yelling racial slurs in reference to a suspect detained during disturbances which hit the city’s Rosengård district in December.

Riot police called young people in the predominantly immigrant district “blattejävlar”, an ethnic slur which translates roughly into “damn coloured people” or “damn immigrants”..

("Damn colored people" is a very lame translation, try something like the N-word...)

The video was played recently during the trial of a 21-year-old who stands charged for violent rioting in connection with the Rosengård demonstrations.

On the tape, listeners can hear internal chatter between police discussing the suspect.

“You little ape son of a

. Should I make him sterile when I catch him?” said one police officer on the tape.

“Yeah, he’s going to get beat so well that he won’t be able to stand on his own legs,” answered a colleague.

Trying to strenghten your case in court against a rioter, and use a video which includes these sentences, really? I've seen the video, and while the quality is so bad you can barely make identify rioters, you hear the voices, loud and clear.

No surprise they throw rocks at the police.

Would calling them that mean anything? Does that word carry the same connotation outside of the US?

Calling them "bastards" with an adequate glare and snarl should suffice...

I was refering to a similar negative charge, not the actual N-word.
"Colored people" is PC in Sweden.

haha we had a similar case in Denmark a few weeks ago, the officer got away with it here though.

PC aside, You have to agree that there's a difference with blatte and blattejävel, and calling someone Apjävel is just racist, nothing to do with pc. But my reason to post this was the fact that they used it as evidence in a court. You don't think that was kind of...funny/stupid?

They were throwing rocks. The police were calling them bad names. The police are on leave. What about the rock throwers? They are still at fault. This is no defense for bad behavior. Period.

Yep. I hope if I was a police officer and some

started throwing rocks at me that I would react so nonviolently. Here, a police officer can defend himself with firearms from assault with a deadly weapon. It may not seem like much, but a lucky (or unlucky) thrown rock can kill someone just as surely as a bullet to the head.

And if a cop shot someone throwing a rock they would be in jail so quick it would take them a few weeks to wonder why they are on the other side of the bars while Bubba has his way.

Really responding to a rock with a gun is idiocy.

I see how the PC police respond. If a law officer calls someone a racial slur the PC police resort to violence.
