Default [FAILED 02/12/09] [Citizen] Future Filmmaker (Patron: Thanatos)

Client: Future FilmmakerEsteemed seat holders of the Consilium de Civitate,

I used to come to TWC to browse the huge selection of mods as I'm an avid Total War player. However, over time, I grew to be more and more active in the Discussion and Debate area since there really aren't any other forums for political discussion. Most other forums outright discourage discussion and debate of socio-political issues we are facing from day-to-day. Lacking that output anywhere else in my life, I come here. And because I'd like to be patronized so that I can become a more integrated in the community. I've taken a look at some of the role-play that comes with being a citizen and I find it a fascinating and rather ingenious system. I only seek citizenship, because I'm not sure my debating standards are up there with some of the other Civitates like Viking Prince. Although, I'm more than willing to learn how to be a better debater and gain more skill at expressing my opinion. I never thought anyone would really offer to patronize me, but I'm rather glad that Thanatos has offered to take me in as your own. I admit, I do have my flaws. But I'm willing to learn how to better express myself. I stand here humbled before you and will accept your decision either way. Either way, I'll still be here debating.

Patron:ThanatosFuture Filmmaker is another member of the TWC community that has proven himself to be a positive influence to the forums. He has taken the time to let his thoughts and ideas be heard, not only generally around the site, but especially in the Discussion and Debate section of the site. He has shown himself willing to stick to the end in any debate, and remains calm and thoughtful the entire way. I know that as a Citizen, he will continue to bring his positive talents to bear in the D&D, and I know that he will be a source of inspiration to follow for all the common posters that he encounters.

    Thank you for your time,

    Thanatos

    Average at best. No.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

He is nice but whenever I read his posts I feel like I am looking at blandness there is nothing wrong with the post per se but there is no spark.

Some of his posts have thoughtful qualities to them, but they are also plagued with some prejudice here and there. I think if we let everyone who debates without derailing a thread become a Citizen then our standard would be fairly low. By the looks of it he will remain a prospect, but standing out more from the crowd is essential if he's to become a citizen purely on his contribution to debate.

I think that the American people deserve the protection of our armed forces more than the Iraqis. It is after all, OUR armed forces meant to be protecting us from terrorism, instead we are protecting foreign nations from terrorist attacks. That's their job. Their responsibility. Not mine. Not yours.

It's much easier to let the terrorists come to us. Otherwise, you end up on a mindless crusade where everyone is the enemy. That's exactly what happened. You cannot fight a war against a tactic. You have to fight preventative, rather than aggressive large numbered, fights in order to be effective. It's what Eisenhower did against numberless countries and groups and it almost always worked. You do not send your entire army after one man. You'll find that you'll be humiliated. We were. We are no closer to being successful at find the main perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks. After, that's the only reason the American people supported any efforts going over seas.

Though, I understand that neocons in Congress have been trying to get us to go back into Iraq since 1996.

So someone has to pay for it. I'm sick and tired of us middle class having to give all the effort to support the poor and the rich with no real benefits for ourselves. Can you imagine the added burden of free universal healthcare would put on the American worker? Considering the trillions in debt we already owe...

It is not extreme capitalism that causes our nation's problems. It's too much government regulation where it is not needed and no regulation where it is badly needed. The bureaucracy involving our health industry is partially whats inflating prices so sky high, but at the same time, there is greed in that industry as well. The problem is we are getting screwed by the worst of both worlds. Socialism and capitalism. Greed and inefficiency.

Must be nice having all the EU to bail out your debts. We don't have such a thing. The EU is very likely the only reason some countries in Europe are not failing due to their policies. Some things work, some thing don't. Pure socialism results in making your economy a basket case. Pure capitalism results in a few extremely rich guys with no distribution of that wealth. You need a balance, otherwise you'll have no prosperity either way.
A couple of his better posts that I found. A bit charged, but then this is the mudpit we're talking about here, so that's virtually a given. Anyways, maybe if he provides a bit more quality or branches out beyond just contributing to debates, but not at the moment.

I agree with the patrons assessment thats his posts are generally positive, but I don't see much evolution in his earlier posts to now. So for the time being, I'm saying no, hopefully he sticks around for consideration at a later date.
