Well, look at the bright side of it. Those 1,100 wasn't likely the creme de la cream of EA...
Perhaps we'll see just a tiny bit more quality from those chaps?

Or they will go the path of Activision and only milk known franchises to death while killing originality and creativity in the mix.
EA isn't innocent in franchise milking but they are atleast come out with something special from time to time(dead space, mirror's edge).

Over the past few years, the impression I have of EA is that it has become the AIG of gaming, absorbing (and in many cases then closing) many fine gaming studios to maximize their own profit.

IMO, they are evil.

Their early FIFA and NBA series was pretty good for the standard of the time, but they sucked at improving those games.

I wont shed a tear for EA. Everyone knows when you eat to much you will explode. At least my neighbor did.

But what about the people, i mean these weren't just game designers their also animators, programmers etc. They don't have that much control over the quality of their games they need to eat aswell. Hopefully they land some good jobs in some respectable companies.

And being gaming people they had no idea what their company is doing to PC gaming? I doubt it.

Have you ever heard of Sierra? They made wonderful games. EA snatched them up and shut them down.

IIRC the gaming industry as a whole is still growing.
So if they are any good, they'll find a new job at a different game company very soon.

Sucks for casual mainstream gamers, who make up of the bulk of EA's fan base. Considering that EA is such a large enterprise, their demise is a blow to gaming as a whole, a lot of consoles will suffer as well.
