Yup...the US should really try concentrating on the NO# of gang members...and when I say concentrate I mean catch em and kill em.

Meh, the "criime university" is largely an overrated myth. Only the idiots, innocents, and failures end in prison.
As for the overcrowded problem, killing someone without them being sentenced to execution would be a crime in itself. The solution would be in the long term to reduce/eliminate poverty and discrimination, and in the short term to build more prisons.
Oh, and a personal opinion of mine is there would be less of this if marijuana were decriminalized.

I agree, people join gangs/commit crimes because they can't handle the rigors of life. It's a simple fact, they are TOO LAZY to adjust and increase their education levels to make a better life for themselves. I will argue with anyone about this because I am a prime example of someone that comes from nothing and is able to make something of himself.
I agree with that.
And it's not only poverty and such that are causing a lot of the problems.
Most of the people in our prisons are there for drug-related crimes. Minor drug-related crimes, that have ridiculous punishments attached.
If marijuana was decriminalized, we'd have so much more space in the prisons for serious offenders.
It is a problem. Got to support Law Enforcement to crack down on gang violence.
Bring on dem poor and downtrodden from all corners of the planet!
Blut und Boden
"How many of the 1Million gang members are here illegally or born to illegal parents?"
That was on the comments on that web page.
It's incredibly often that these gang members are gang members for life. I know personally enough cops who have to deal with these idiots on a daily basis that it's just the way things turn out unfortunately.
Catch 'em and kill 'em. In the meantime, try eliminating the root of the problem, which is poverty, and all the injustices that follow with that.
However, this whole situation is yet another reason for me to move out of this country eventually, when I can.
Agreed. I to have family members on the force, and they say the same thing.
They are in and out of the prison system all there life and have nothing to life for except there gang name and turf which is why they are out doing drive buys and murdering rivals.
It's the worst in California..
Good luck trying to convince all those Republicians and libertarians who believe government should not help the poor, because people are poor due to them being lazy.
If they work hard enough, they can be a millionare!
People who believed that why should the government waste my tax money on people who are lazy and poor. That poor people is not my concern.
I agree that Poverty is at the root of the problem, but I don't see how we can solve this issue considering how inefficient and bloated most social programs aimed at these issues are.
I fear we are stuck with throwing these guys in jail when we catch them, which just feeds the problem.
On a more positive note, I actually worked with an ex-con who had been in and out of jail for half his life due to gang related crimes, but by the time I met him he had gone straight and was holding down a job, and behaving like a good (although grotesquely tatood) citizen. Unfortunately this is not the norm.
Take it easy,
so a lot of people do this for their whole life, it isn't something that they do mostly in their teens and 20s years?
I ask becouse i'm a bit confused on the phenomenon, i mean 1 million people? Than mean roughly 1 in 300 people in the USA is a gang member, WTF, to me it seems exaggerated, or this number is probably accurate?
What they do mostly, sell drugs? Or most of them are also involved in violent crimes? Becouse in the second case that's a VERY big problem, if that number is correct.
Meh, first thing to do imho is to legalize pot and prostitution, that would probably take a lot of money from these guys.
