I launch med total war 2 and the demoshield icon comes up and then nothing happens. I have tried re-installing and installing patches and still nothing happens. please help!!!

When you uninstall it make sure you go to the Medieval 2 Folder and delete everything.
If that does not work then uninstall your drivers and restart your computer.

it won't let me delete the files in the folder it says 'cannot delete these files they are read only'

What are your computer specs?
As far as deleting the folder, right click it, under properties, uncheck read only, save, and now you should be able to delete it.

I am having the same exact problem. When I put the disk in nothing happens. The intro screen won't come up or anything. I installed the game but was unable to run it for the same reason. So, I uninstalled everything and deleted the root folder. I put the disk back in and nothing. It won't start. I tested another game (Silent Hunter) and it started fine. This is annoying!! Please help! Thanks.

hi i'm back, sorry for the delay, anyway my operating system is windows xp home edition (5.1, build 2600), Processor AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor 3200+, MMX, 3DNOW, ~2.2HHz, directx 9.0c, system model EBERLY - GA-K8VM-P-NF, memory 1024MB RAM. Main driver ati2dvag.dll. And finally my graphics card is a SAPPHIRE HD 2600 PRO.

It should run the game fine.
Your problem is Securom. Silent Hunter and Medieval2 use it and it won't let you play M2 with SL installed.
You can contact Securom and hope for postive response, uninstall either game, or return the game if where you live has favorable return policy.
This is beyond the scope of this forum.

what is SL? also i have already taken med 2 back and got a diffrent disk and that did not work, uninstalled it aswell. what do i tell securom?

Even it sits there doing that, it can be:
Your firewall blocking it.
Your antivirus says it's bad.
The disc is dirty.
The drive is dying.
Vista or 7 says you don't have the rights to run the program.
Battles dying are usually dirt inside the case, overheating, underpowered power supply, memory problems, for starters.

See, my game will boot to launch screen, then the demo shield pops up and after that nothing happens. The game won't launch and so I can't play it.

Well, I just bought the game, and I played once on the undian campaign and halfway through it died. I turned off my firewall when I installed it, I unlocked the anti virus. I just got the computer 3 weeks before I got the game and I have a brand new 1 day old memory card. And I have XP on this computer.

Are you running on a desktop or laptop? When you say you have a new memory card - what brand is it?
Also, can't stress enough what irishron said:

I am running it on a pc, its not warm to the touch, my cooling system works perfectly, all my other games work correctly, I checked there wasnt any dirt anywhere and the cd had no scratches, I even cleaned off any smudges it had.
I have the Nvidia Geforce 8 series, and it has power.
