    Default Question about English units

I like the look of the english knights, english dismounted knights and english swordsmen in vanilla. It is possible to give them back their vanilla appearence?

Just look on the battlefield, and perhaps too UI and unit card, but first on battlefield.

alright, i'm no pro modder but i'll have a try

BACKUP ALL THE FILES YOU OVERWRITE AND MODIFY!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    battle models:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
first of all, you have to unpack the files from vannila. to do this, you need version 1.1 or better.
go to m2tw\tools\unpacker and run unpack all. this could take up to 30 min
    now, go to m2tw\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\export_descr_unit.
do a search (CTRL+F) for english knights.
observe they use mount barded_horse and soldier English_Knights
go to m2tw\mods\SS\data\unit_models\battle_models.modeldb. open the file in notepad and search for mount_barded_horse. you should find this:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    7 england
    70 unit_models/Mounts/Barded_Horse/textures/horse_barding_england.texture
    69 unit_models/Mounts/Barded_Horse/textures/horse_barding_normal.texture
    50 unit_sprites/england_Mount_Barded_Horse_sprite.spr

now, assuming you have not changed the location for the unpacker, do the folowing:
    go to m2tw\data\unit_models\Mounts\Barded Horse\textures and copy horse_barding_england.texture and horse_barding_normal.texture to m2tw\mods\ss6\data\unit_models\Mounts\Barded Horse\textures
go to m2tw\data\unit_sprites and copy england_mount_barded_horse_sprite.spr to m2tw\mods\ss6\data\unit_sprites
now do a search for english_knights.you shuld find this
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    7 england
    74 unit_models/_Units/EN_Pplate_Plate/textures/mtw2_EM_Pplate_england.texture
    73 unit_models/_Units/EN_Pplate_Plate/textures/mtw2_EM_Pplate_normal.texture
    54 unit_sprites/england_Dummy_EN_Plate_Knights_sprite.spr

so,folowing this, you go to m2tw\data\unit_models\_units\en_pplate_plate\textures and copy m2tw_em_pplate_england.texture and mtw2_EM_Pplate_normal.texture to m2tw\mods\ss6\data\unit_models\_units\en_pplate_plate\textures
go to m2tw\data\unit_sprites and copy england_Dummy_EN_Plate_Knights_sprite.spr to m2tw\mods\ss6\data\unit_sprites
scroll a bit down and you'll find this
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    3
    7 england
    67 unit_models/AttachmentSets/Final Special Heads_england_diff.texture
    67 unit_models/AttachmentSets/Final Special Heads_england_norm.texture 0

so, go to m2tw\unit_models\AttachmentSets and copy Final Special Heads_england_diff.texture and Final Special Heads_england_norm.texture to m2tw\mods\ss6\data\unit_models\AttachmentSets
now scroll a bit down and you'll find the entries for english_knights_ug1:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    7 england
    74 unit_models/_Units/EN_Pplate_Plate/textures/mtw2_EM_Pplate_england.texture
    73 unit_models/_Units/EN_Pplate_Plate/textures/mtw2_EM_Pplate_normal.texture
    58 unit_sprites/england_Dummy_EN_Plate_Knights_ug1_sprite.spr

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    7 england
    67 unit_models/AttachmentSets/Final Special Heads_england_diff.texture
    67 unit_models/AttachmentSets/Final Special Heads_england_norm.texture 0
    repeat what you did above

    UI:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
now for the UI.go to m2tw\data\ui\units\england and copy #english_knights to m2tw\mods\ss6\data\ui\units\england
go to m2tw\data\ui\unit_info\england and copy english_knights_info to m2tw\mods\ss6\data\ui\unit_info\england

repeat for Dismounted English Knights and Armored Swordsmen - only difference is that these are infantry so they don't have mounts
NOTE that Dismounted English Knights use Janissary_Heavy_Inf model and Armored Swordsmen use Dismounted_Feudal_knights model. Also don't forget to also do it for _ug1

my guess is that this should work, but to be on the safeside DO make backups
also i did not check if the vannila version has the same names for textures but i guess they should

If the models are the same as vanilla and only the textures are changed (and the filenames are the same), then all you need to do is delete all the english textures in the SS\data\unit_models folder and the game will automatically use the vanilla ones. You don't need to unpack them if this is the case.
