    Default Another idea...

Hey people. I guess people know in and out of battles for each mod. Flank-charge-win. This is inevitable in Total War, but how this works can be frequently changed.
I just played a couple of battles with BB & Lusted, and I got to say: I think this is braking the boring-battle code.
A YES/NO option in the beginning, Orginal/Taiji. Not because the orginal is better nor worse, but because a change of choice in the Battle system is a explosive and refreshing system that can change the boring-battle code.

I also recognize the problem that there is alot of these (yes/no)requests. This can lead to illusion/ignoring of the importent choices because there is so many etc. A way to sort this could be to sort them out, graphically:
    • Divide them all in just 3 pop-ups in themes, with 2 questions for each pop-up).
    • Divide each theams in different colors:

          • (AI garrison, AI Battle style)
          • (Mil/Gov.point system, AI Playstyle system)
          • (Seattlement cost, field cost)
Just had to write it down.

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

The choice is really Taiji "the early days" or Taiji "in his prime" so I can't complain

But about the AI, I really don't favor either. I'm importing Lusted's work mainly as a fix for the reinforcement battle freezes not because I think it's better than DLV. I'd rather just fix DLV's but I wouldn't know where to start.

That's an interesting idea, blackleaf. To consolidate even further, there could be only one popup initially with checkboxes for the parts of the mod people want. If the user is new, there could be a button directing them to a popup describing each of the options. Would something like this be possible?

I think it should be possible and I think it's a good idea.

The original DLV6 battle system is incredibly fast, it does not take as much thought to play but it does take big use of pause or good twitch skills+keyboard shortcuts.

My latest stuff is slower in general and requires much more thought.

I'm not completely happy with either system and both systems share the flaws of DLVs animations.

Still, it's a good idea to give the player this kind of choice, "fast and dirty" or "slow and measured". I think people will like the choice.

I stress again that the AI used is not part of this conversation at all. We need to fix DLV's AI, end of story.

I just downloaded your latest Battle balance & Lusted AI. Vs. normal DLV AI. What are you talking about man?:hmmm:

Regular DLV "broke", and BB is some sort of fix..?

No Blackleaf, if you read what I've written you'll see that DLV AI is broke and needs fixing.

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with BB.

BB has absolutely NOTHING to do with AI.

    Is that clear?

If not then lusted is the "change" that I'm talking about. (although BB changes some stats). I to do not favor either one, but I think this can accelerate the interest for battles. Let the player choose the grass-root settings of the battle-system.
