hey guys random questions

how popular is TW when comparing to the other rtw mods? how many people would you say play this mod ? and why do you guys play this mod over medieval 2?

i'm not sure about numbers, but i think that AT LEAST (and that's the biggest at least ever, it's as big as the earth itself) a few hundred people play it, seeing that release topics get that much views.....but are those views counted per IP-adres or per visist? that's a thing i as a normal Chiv play don't know


and why we play this:
1. M2TW has ALOT more bugs.
2. it gives a proper Medieval feel, something M2TW seems to miss IMO
3(00). THIS..........IS.........AWESOME..

and it has very good gameplay, with many things hidden like hidden tech-trees (crusades, anyone?)

Nice thread, a small answer to dl-numbers: ChivTW exists since the end of 2004/start of 2005, and there were some little battle-pack release with surely a lot dl's as it was the sole medieval mod on RTW - a first campaign release (v0.34) in May 2006 had about, rough guessed 12000 downloads (if i remember correctly) in less than 2 weeks or so, at least the servers "broke" down, as far as i can remember, but it's just very long ago.
And, everybody should know, that ChivTW's first home wasn't here on TWC, but on the SCC site, for the main development, betatesting and public forum.

"Todays", of course the popularity and its related dl numbers went down since M2TW is out, and with this, less to nobody cares about medieval mods on RTW, means, they do not seek it, when they have M2TW, or at least only a little number who are disgusted by M2TW or have not the pc-power to afford M2 properly.

... i'll look for fitting threads that give answers to the question why still some players prefer ChivTW over M2TW even if they own and know M2TW, and link them here in this post, so you, Marku, can read through them by yourself to get an idea to your points.

I'm sure that I have downloaded this game 3-4 times now. I don't play it all of the time but every so often I load it up for a few weeks, play the hell out of it and unload it, it usually takes a new release to load it back up. I am a true die hard Total war fan. Hell, I still play Shogun. It is my opinion after being on these forums for many years now that there are alot of gamers who do the same as myself.

well I used to play CTW for year and half cause my PC was very old to run M2TW,but when I upgraded my PC I stopped playing CTW for a while but to be honest with ya Iam a big fan of le ReconquIsta and as you guys know both the Spanish and the moors in the game sucks..so again I installed CTW and Iam playin it till now

sure Davinci I mean the M2TW Vanilla,you did a great job for making the reconquista looks very realistic.
Edit: I wish if I could enjoy the reconquista in C2tw as I enjoy it in C1TW (blink)

Well, without going into extensive detail the mod feels like it's "complete". Challenging economy, variety of units ( i like this from RTW) good AI.

I do like the graphics from MTW II, but just playing this mod makes the gaming experience better as a whole.

You already got the answer as far as figures are concerned, but it has to be said that real TW fans, such as myself, prefer ANYTHING (i.e. Shogun, MTW, RomeTW, various mods... hm, almost every mod) to M2TW.
It was a HUGE disappointment, so ChivalryTW, being focused on medieval times is filling a niche for those players that found M2TW almost unplayable.
I, for one, am very glad that the mod team is using Rome TW engine and not M2TW.

(just look at the new campaign, the crusader epoche....it is such a challenge, M2TW couldn't possibly be compared with such a great yet simple campaign
