We shall call it the "Western Scandinavian Union". The Faroes, Orkney, and Shetland will join as well.

If it wasn't because the economy is so intertwined these days, I'd say go for it. It's your money. Spend it how you see fit.
No, seriously, I think it's a really bad idea.

Shame the Orkneys and the Shetlands use the British pound and are part of Britain, and that the Faroes use the Danish krona and are part of Denmark (although self governing). Those facts rather scupper your plan.

And this Norwegian-Icelandic deal won't get off the ground, Iceland is beating it's way to the EU's door and to membership of the €, if Iceland isn't in the EU by 2011, I'll be surprised.

In theory we can buy Orney back any time we won't, and if deals made in the 14th century are to be uphold, we should have Shetland back as well.

    Ok, that's unlikely.

It's a bad idea. I'd honestly hope they don't merge their currencies.

There's reasons cenkiss, it's not as easy as it seems. And merging currencies is definitely not the answer, let alone entire nations.

Personally i would not mind that but i guess some other Norwegians would and i think most of the people in Iceland would dislike it.

I doubt many Norwegians would mind, we all go around bearing an imperialist in our stomach

But giving handouts? Nah, I'm against that. I'd rather give Iceland handouts though, than say, most sub-saharan countries.

I would have wanted Iceland to become Norwegian land. I doubt they would like it though..
