    Default Sicily OMG !

OH MY GOSH ! I just started a campaign with Sicily and realise how strong this faction is. These Norman knights, the dismouinted normans and these muslim archers ! RAWR i'm like..GOD in my campaign. Moors are my vassals after ONLY ONE BLOCKADING a port, I didn't even attacked their army or siege a city and they gave up! Egypt is done for for like 15 turns since i send my crusade army to the Holy Land. Damn and the campaign difficult is H/VH ! I suppose there should be some challenge but ..there isn't. Those guys are melting everything in their way.

Then wait... the only reason why sicily rocks is that maybe you will escape the unholy wrath of the mongy's and timmy's. When they arrive, forget your egyptian lands =D

Why do you think this way ? If I concentrate 90% of my military powers on them I think I will stand a chance The only problems are the horse archers and the elephants. My Norman knights should take care of the horse archers easily...but the elephants..hm..maybe a several full stacks with Armoured sergeants and only 2-3 units with Norman knights shall make it.

Yes, Sicily, like the other Italian factions, are gods.

Italian factions are ranked as follows:

    Milan / Genoa(SS): Completely city-orientated.
Venice: 60-70% city orientated. 40-30% military and castle orientated.
Sicily: Lies somewhere in the middle, or closer to the military side of things.

The good thing about Sicily is they have their very powerful castle units, but can also rely on spamming their reliable Italian militia. Plus their central position in the Med. Sea proves very lucrative.

I was kind of joking, because it is very hard to defeat the mongols, unless you are playing with another horse archer civilization, and even so, 8+ full stacks of full elite and armored horse archers and heavy cavalry and foot archers and spearmen and.. well... spawning just in front of your gates, isn't the same as dealing with the moors (in my opinion the weakest faction of the game)

I rarely play Sicily, due to the lack of challenge. You're right though, they do rock.

Their starting position is very secure while giving easy access to, well, pretty much the entire Mediterranean. What more could you ask for?

The Venetian Heavy Infantry are better than your best, and Genoa has the best crossbows in the game, but like you said Sicily has a strong roster from very early in the game with, really, no handicaps.

@Hoson i was joking too. I know it won't be that easy to deal with them.

    @Callawyn

I never tried Sicily. This is my first time and yeah at the very start of the campaign i'm feeling invincible but it's only..around 60 turn, so ..there is plenty of time to see what will happen. It's interesting that none of the catholic factions attacked me yet. I'm waiting them.

Not yet, but I have some worries for Venice. Milan is in ally with the Moors who are my vassals HRE are my allies, France too, The Papal States too So..soon i guess the byzies and Venice will try to get me Also the Turks, cuz since I eliminated Egypt they are my neighbours.

They sound like fun, and I especially love the early part of the game.

I only like and play Sicily because their faction colour is black/grey.

Sicily is is made for a rush campaign, that means that you will absolutly pwn everyone in the first 60 turns or something, but after that you'll see the weaknesses of sicily. They won't get really better units then their norman knights. While France, England, HRE for example get late tier units, sicily won't have anything that overclasses them or even matches them.

I agree, taking one look at their unit roster and starting position and I agree that Sicily is very powerful. Easily one of the best from the get-go because it takes very little time for them to be fielding some of their stronger units, whereas with Frace/England/etc it takes time to be fielding such.

You also start with Palermo (sp?) which is one of the best forts in the game and one of the most advanced early ones.

The strength in them lies, I believe, in the fact that unlike other Italian factions they can still build several strong units from their castles as well as having potent militia units. For instance, they can spam Italian Spear Militia, while they also have access to Sword and Buckler Men.
    They have no real weaknesses.

Still, in the late game I find they're not as good as the other Italians, missing out on Musketeers, and they don't get Broken Lances either, moreover Norman Knights. They're definitely excellent in terms of balance and all-round strength, but they lack specialisation...as I see it.
