Default What is the Matrix? Hackers in Medieval time. Warning: Lots of photos

One day, two Irish bombard captains, Neo and Morpheus, participated in an Irish attack of a Scottish Castle.

The castle was well defended with no spies inside.

Morpheus: Is there something you want to know?

    Neo: What is the Matrix?
    Morpheus: Let me show you.

Morpheus: You believe that a gate is stopping you from entering the castle right now? Look again.

Neo: WTF? I don't believe it.

Morpheus: You are the one. You can do anything.

Neo: You think I can open closed gates?

Morpheus: When you are ready, you won't have to.

Neo: Must have been the damaged gates that caused the gates to malfunction.

Neo: Scottish agents, lots of them

Neo: I am in real trouble now

Morpheus: Do you think you are pushing a bombard right now? How do you define real?

Neo: Let me do this. There is no gate.

    Neo: The gate is undamaged!

Morpheus: Do you believe now, Neo?
    Neo: I believe now, Morpheus.

Nice way of presenting it, although a bit overdone in the graphics dept.

This has happened to me several times and my theory is that it has to do with an allied spy in the city opening the gates for you. Probably a bug, I don't think it would be a game feature even if it's true.

Creative story. I find it odd that the Scotts didn't have any of their men on any of their walls. Even with a spy in the settlement, I still generally find that the AI defenders aren't just going to let me walk through 3 gateways without at least some boiling oil as a present. Does the AI react differently to bombards, or something?

Well, it is exactly just that. What I described above is an actual bug in MTW II that I have discovered during the extreme boredom of beating the defending AI.

The idea is to move close to the gate with two bombards. Due to the small area in front of the gate, you could repeatedly reposition your bombards closer to the gate till a bombard is "pushed" through the gate. Once that happens, you would have 'taken' the gate as if someone has opened it from within. (Hence, 'there is no gate.' comment)

This only works with small sized units, like all artillery units. These bombards crews have the power to violate the physics of their world (The Matrix) and the crews have grasped the true physics of the real world (The MTW II engine). Hence, the above story was born.

Since the gates were not destroyed, the AI did not react to my two small units of bombards.
