I'm getting a tad bit annoyed with this pompous bag of wind in the Cimbri preview thread. If I have stepped over the line.....I apologize.
Sheesh...I thought last month was diss the developers.

I think Elmetiacos escalated the conversation fairly quickly. You asked for sources and then they went off on one about not having to provide sources.......

One thing that does happen is that if some people (FMO) are clearly out of line and don't get stompted on quickly then others think it's OK to continue in the same vein.

I'm just glad I don't claim to be a historian and I'm certainly no modder.

Try doing what I do....all of you. I see a post that really irritates me, or a response to something I said that just plain makes me mad......I write a whole paragraph or two of scathing responses which is what I REALLY want to say...then hover over the 'Submit Post' button and think..."Naw. Better tone that down, or just ignore it."

Believe me, you guys have never seen how I could (or would) rip some people apart for things they did or said that were way out of line. (Well, maybe in PM's

)

To be honest, and quite humbly 'frank', this is something I had to learn from a Counselor. My last daughter, God bless her, is a red headed young lady who got all the Irish genes in the family. When she got into her teens, she was just a bloody nightmare to deal with. Bull-headed, single-minded, always right, never back down...man, there were times even the DOG started biting her ankles because she was getting so rowdy!! She could make me so mad it was just incredible. Like pushing a 'turn on DVK's mad button'.

I'm not ashamed that I sought help with her from a friend who is a Psychologist, and it really took only one talk with him to realize that I was being easily 'manipulated'. He simply told me...don't react. Be 'robotic' and emotionless. Tell her the way things gotta be, and that's that. If you get mad, SHE WINS.

I couldn't believe how well it worked! Once I stopped reacting, she started behaving. Years later, she told me she ENJOYED pissing me off. Odd that she is the daughter I am probably the 'closest' to now.

So the moral of the story is...be robotic. If you let your emotions get ahold of you...the other person wins. I suspect a number of people have come into our forum looking for a fight over 'something'. And it's likely they either have a chip on their shoulder, some personal 'point' they think they have to prove, or just plain enjoy getting people riled up. They may well be emotionally childish like my daughter was. Then again, I spent a lot of time at her level for a while. LOL

Yeah I hear ya dvk. My son actually had me devising ways to sell the house and move without him knowing.

The stories I could tell you...wwhhoooaaa.

My last response to Elmetiacos was re-worked about six times, carefully deleting any possible flames, and keeping in mind how you wished us to be good. Funny...he still never told me where that supposed reference was....and never apologized either. What the heck ......Still tamer around here than refereeing basketball games.

Two questions though dvk....

1) Will you adopt me ?
and
2) Can I use this in my sig?
