Default Quick Question - Gold vs M2TW + Kingdoms Exp

So I bought M2TW a while ago, but couldn't play it until i upgraded my pc. Then I spent the last week learning how to extensively mod my game with much success, including finding answers and clarifications to my earlier questions.

However, I am just wondering if it is better, or if there is any difference between installing M2TW Gold Edition or if I should install the expansion via downloading it from the Internet over my original version of M2TW (then patch both).

I am asking mostly with respect to mod compatibility, as I recall there were some issues with Rome TW gold edition.

I realize that you have to patch gold as well. I have already downloaded around 20 mods and will incorporate them myself, but I understand some mods are for version 1.2, while others for 1.3, and some for kingdoms only.

I am wondering if mods made for 1.2 will work with the imperial campaign (M2TW) if 1.3 is installed. Also if they will work with Gold Edition. I assume they would but then again, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks for every one's help in answering my questions, esp irishron (I'd +rep you if I could!)!

Gold edition is nice since you have all the updates in one place.
I bought mine seperately long before Gold was released.
If you have disc, you may want to just buy Kingdoms disc. If you bought Medieval2 download, you maybe better off buying Gold as it would end any problems if they try to sell you the wrong language version and it has happened.
You buy the Gold version you will have to reinstall the game. If you do, just put your mod files in a temp folder so you don't lose them.
