Default Need Some Help With This Scenario

Ok, well I'm playing as the House of Scipii and Numida has just sieged a island town of mine. My forces began with full numbers of a General, 3 Velites, 3 Hastati, and 1 Town Watch.

Numida sieged it with two armies, 1 smaller and the other. I was able to salley forth and take out army number 1, although when number 2 caught up I fell back to the center of my town to have the troops rest.

I salley'd forth again and was able to take out half of the secound army, but when my troops began to take losses and routed I fell everyone back to the center of my village again for rest.

So now I need some help. My forces have been reduced to only 2 generals body guard (including the general), my viletes have been reduced to 1 unit of 11, 1 of 30, and 1 of 38. The hastati are at 1 of 13, 37, and 7. The unit of town guard is now at 18.

The remaining enemy consists of 2 Numidian cavalry (missle cav., 1 is at 5 and the other at 4 including the enemy commander), 21 Slingers, and the rest consisting of Numidian Javelinmen for a whopping 347 troops.

I know, the odds are against me. But as Sun Tzu said numbers mean almost nothing, and it strue cause as you can see the enemy is made up of entirely missle troops, and have barley any melee capability. However, the mass amounts of numbers are a huge problem and will make my morale drop witch will lead to routing.

I know this battle can become a victory, but I need you advice on how to make it so. So any help would be nice.

EDIT: I have no ammo left for any of my missle troops, by the way.

Well the thing is I got them before they could build any siege equipment so Im still locked in my safe little town. They have no access to it. They are all standing in a line outside of my tower archer's range waiting for me to come out.

I'm sure for the loss of a couple of bait troops I could lure them in but are there any other ideas?

well I tried to lure them in but they didn't take the bait, I ended up salleing forth a third and final time witch resulted in my defeat, but a close defeat. Woulda been a heroic if I won so I'm happy with knowing now Numida just lost a huge army to one small garrison.

i love hastati. especially the pronounciation of it. it excites me.

on a more serious note you mightve won if you turn off battle time limit and wait for them to come. eventually they will come i think.

you could have had your general battling alone.
What I mean is don't sally for a single turn. So then your generals guards' numbers will probably be restored.
Then you can sally and pick out their units one by one (they're mostly javelin I assume, right?)

just sally kill, rinse and repeat.
Love is the most powerful thing on Earth, unless you have access to weaponry.

Okay, Numidia, it seems, is a backstabbing faction of savages! First they besiege this lovely man's settlement, and now, they betray me! Nearly twenty five years of alliance between us, during which time the faction seemed content with taking the numerous and widespread provinces of Northwest Africa (Mundus Magnus). I even gifted them Hadrumetum (Thapsus on vanilla) and Lepcis Magna, simply because I thought we were friends! All I asked was that they not attack my trading outpost of Cathago, and not expand farther east than a line drawn at the west end of Cyrenacia (at least, I asked them this in my little head). To be sure of my own security, I placed small garrisons on my roads that led to the nearest Numidian settlements, but neglected to strengthen them, because I figured after I was so civil to these African barbarians, they would not possibly strike out at me.

I was wrong! They tore through my small and heavily outnumbered bridge garrison, which fought valiantly to the death. In the same season, they besiege Carthage, which is garrisoned by nought more than a general and eight units of peasants. Rest assured, they will meet my wrath. For two governors, one from Sicily and one from Italy, are currently hiring mercenaries and are preparing to meet this new Numidian threat. They will not rest until the faction leader and heir have been killed, and the Numidian capital sacked. Ah, yes, it seems one of my hastily recruited armies has just landed on the shores of North Africa. The Numidian scum will meet their demise...

(Oh, how I love procrastinating on my homework to type little stories of my RTW experiences!)

Thanks Sunday213, but I don't think a motley crew of Numidians is going to hinder me much. I've dealt with far worse in this campaign, such as a very similar situation with Egypt attacking my outpost of Cyrene (although this wasn't really a betrayal, we were neutral at the time; however, I've not let them forget their stupidity. They are reduced to a few settlements in Nubia and whatever they still have in the Judea and Asia Minor area.)

Can't wait for the civil war

What Roman_Wolf said might work. You would wait for your general's numbers to go up and slowly and carefully kill the entire army. (Granted, 200 spearmen will kill him nonetheless, but assuming you don't run him into the front of a spearwall)
