Can someone please tell me why the god damn sodding thing keeps restarting the "updating" to 0% its been 6 sodding hours and I'm thinking of removing the damn thing and getting my money back.
Well, if I, Belisarius, the Black Prince, and you all agree on something, I really don't think there can be any further discussion.

AlrightI am a bit confused. Did not really pay too much attention to this steam thing as I was planning on buying the box version buuuuut since I live in Canada and many of the retailers are telling me its been delayed a week (actually different answers altogether) I figure I just purchase it off steam.

Am I correct to assume that I cannot download the game til March 4 (whatever time-currently says 9 hours from now)? Or can I download it first then wait til activation on March 4? As it stands there is not option to download in advance and I am aware its 15gigs in size.

As far as I can tell, as soon as it's available to activate in your region (N. America is later than Europe I think), it's available to download and play. There is (and was) no 'preloading' of the game, so no you can't download in advance. As soon as it's available on Steam in your region, you can download and play.

Don't worry, it hasn't deleted what you've already downloaded. For some reason the percent counter occasionally resets, and when it begins again it displays the percentage of what is left. The proof? You'll notice it move much faster now as the total amount to download is less.

Also, just look in your steam folder. All the ETW files Steam has downloaded will still be there, and you can view the folder size to see how much has been downloaded or is left.

Well so much for Steam, Empire is already cracked and available for torrent download. Day 0 pirating wins again

Without Steam it would have been pirated many weeks ago.

That's just not accurate at all. Its very rare that the scene gets their hands on a game before release. Maybe, maybe, 1-2 a year on average.

The first scene release is a Steam version with its own installer built by the group, complete with update. You simply install, and no need for activation or update. However its kind of buggered up at the moment. Another release will be tomorrow or the next day in which it will be a retail with cracked exe. Nobody has their hands on a copy as of yet.

I will still be waiting for a week or two to see what gameplay issues there really are. If its solid, then I will buy and use the crack to circumvent Steam.

Yes, we can all agree going through steam makes playing multi player itself better with the easier connections to games and all making a vast improvement on the old system. Except for those people who dont have internet connection at all, I cant eve begin to feel your pain.

But me and my brother have both played steam for years....i am just waiting for the almost mandatory crashes and servers dropping out.

I mean in a game like TW, where multiplayer battles and eventually multiplayer campaigns
(!!!) steam really needs to make sure the servers are better than they have been in the past. I mean a server dying after a few hours of DoD is one thing, after hours of TW, especially in campaign mode, is another....

A 15 GB game without a lengthy Pre-Load period is ridiculous.

I probably won't get to play this for 2-3 more days at this rate...

God DAMN false advertising gets me again. GG CA, I fell for your Steam Tricks. Better have a good game waiting at the end of this.

Sorry if this has been asked. If I'm the second user of ETW, will the activation still valid under my steam registration after the 1st user had done so? Not sure if registration requires personal data as ownership. Got the game but lend it out to my nephew since I'm still playing another game.

He should be able to do the install i believe. If thats what you are asking. However for two people to play the same copy of the game. If he installs at the same time you are playing on a different computer, you will have to be in offline mode so he can activate and update the game. Both accounts cannot be signed online at once.

If you try to activate the game on a second account it won't let you play. What you can do however, is install the game, then log in as the 1st user, and start restart Steam in offline mode. That should let you play. (Though, the two of you cannot both play and be in online mode at the same time).
