    2) Under the stimulus, new groups of children and adults would be eligible for Medicaid, the welfare program for the poor. These expansions are on top of spending $89 billion to bailout out failing state Medicaid programs.
Oh gods no, we cant possibly allow these groups of children to have medical help.

    3) The current "stimulus" bill will be the largest spending bill ever enacted by Congress, making the New Deal look small, accounting for inflation.
But not as large as IDK the Iraq war, and IDK the cost to rehabilitate soldiers returning from Iraq and Afganistan.

    4) President Obama anticipates that spending over $800 billion will create 3.7 million new jobs. That means each job will cost more than $200,000, which is roughly equivalent to 5 times what the average American worker earns!
    5) The bill is full of wasteful spending, including $21 million on new sod for the National Mall in Washington, $600 million on cars for government bureaucrats, and $650 million for digital television converters.
I dont know what a sod is but the National Mall is not a shopping mall. A lot of republican readers might be confused with that.

Still the money given to haliburton and friends in Iraq was more than the prices your listing here. And Haliburton bought luxury BMWs and mansions with that money. Turning out televisions from cable to digital is a good thing mate.

Also in Congress this week is the SCHIP bill that would essentially allow states to cover children of any income level, and even some adults and immigrants. This bill and the Medicaid expansions found in the economic stimulus package are moving the country closer to the tipping point where government will control more health care spending than the private sector, giving individuals and families less freedom over their personal health care decisions.
You repeated this twice about funding children medicare. Would you rather the kids die or for them to get jobs to afford health care.
Because the private sectors does health care so well.

Sod is pre grown squares of grass that you lay down to get an instant lawn That should provide jobs for decades huh.

What about a reform of healthcare as a speciific bill? Nobody is suggesting that people should die or children should starve. The stimulus bill is a garbage dump of unrelated spending ideas. A garbage dump of discarded pet projects that have already proven to be politically unpopular with the full light of day shining on them. Seperate the bill into reasonably related spending and regulation. Lets not fall under the chant that we must do something or the world shall collapse.

QFT. This is why we're against the stimuless bill. It's not like we're all against the idea of more healthcare coverage.

Laying down the sod certainly will provide jobs. As Player said thousands visit the NationalMall, more a necessity to have green gas instead of brown right?

Thats why its up to the Senate to sort out the garbage before the negotiated bill makes it to Obama, it hasnt been passed yet.

It's very partisan. It screams far too much of Religious Right-type initiatives. That's the very thing that I believe is destroying the Republican Party.

I'd really rather join something that has initiatives more along the lines of Barry Goldwater, Ron Paul type conservatives. I'd rather have something that seeks to recruit from both parts of the spectrum for the cause of shrinking the government and fiscal conservatism.

The Mall attracts visitors from all over the globe. If you have seen it you would realize that it needs a little clean up. Most of it is barren after years of people tramping all over the place.

By attracting tourists this would help small business and show that the U.S. has some pride.

And this is related to the Heritage site in what way? By criticising the level of spending as wasteful, this does not make some lower level of spending on a project invalid.

btw -- try to tie laying sod on the National Mall with a federal stimulus package. This is just a garbage dump of spending projects -- this stimulates only wasteful government spending without even minimal Congressional oversight with detailed committee hearings.

This is the most insufferably, repugnantly arrogant thing I've ever read. You know what, screw those children and adults and poor people. Screw them all, it's their own damn fault they're not rich, right?

I don't think it was advertisement, just a discussion of the political agenda.

The form on the left side of the webpage made it seem like some sort of advertisement. But my Lord can see that the thread has really turned into a discussion.

That part is an economic stimulant -- by providing free insurance, it will allow them to spend more money on buying goods and services which is the best way to inject money into the economy.
