there's no comparison there, cigarettes are not classified in the same way, nor do they impair your judgment or cause acute health risks. Cocaine and meth have proven to be a scourge on society, and besides heroine are two of the most dangerous drugs you can use. Cigarettes might kill you in 40 years, cocaine and meth may kill you in 40 seconds.

It is not as if a cop watches you snorting coke on the street without lifting a finger, but then arrests you when he sees you doing it through your window.

That is COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. Smoking tobacco is, believe or not, legal. Granted *I* don't smoke indoors as I don't want my places stinking, but what the hell, it should not be made suddenly illegal to do something which is absolutely legal in the comfort of one's own home. It is not comparable to legalization of meth or cocaine or whatever asinine comparisons you're making.

The point is that this law is in effect in apartment buildings and condos with interconnected air ducts where second hand smoke can easily pose a health risk to neighbours. If this law was in effect in seperated homes I'd have a problem with it but as it stands I see little to no problems.

Here in Ontario you can't smoke in inclosed public spaces and cars with children inside and these laws are widely supported. Problems arise when the media plays smokers as bad people, making them outcasts of society. I've seen this happen and I'd argue that it's a form of racism.

I've just got to point out that by the time 2nd hand smoke gets through a vent and too another apartment its dispersed enough that there's no health risk at all.

Exactly, she apparently stumbled upon some evidence that no one else has. It has been known for years that there has been no conclusive proof that 2nd hand smoke poses a serious health hazard. She absolutely just made it all up.

While the smoke coming off the end of a cigarette is no doubt more harmful then what goes through the filter, due to dispersion the idea that someone smoking in one apartment could cause harm to someone in another apartment is just stupid.

One of the things I do like about Obama is that he is a smoker, and that is important because he is liberal (the group that pushes the anti-smoking agenda). I hope that after he's done ripping the Wall Street execs a new one over bonuses that he cracks down on this liberal pussywillow bs. The same party affiliations that allowed Clinton to reform welfare can allow Obama to cut down on smoking bans.

Actually...it poses a serious health hazard...to workers that spend 8 hours a shift in a place totally filled with smoke. Eg...bars before public smoking bans were put in effect.
