    Default Random desertion

For some reason every once in a while my armies will suddenly turn into rebels. half the army will disappear and the rest block my roads. My FL did this in one of my greece campaigns and the romans attacked my undefended frontier. This has happened in RTW, BI, and MTW2 and i dont have any idea y. Does any one else no?

This happens if your army is either a captain Or the generals loyalty is low they will rebel because they don't think you can manage it thus they become rebels

Well ok the thing about captains makes sense but RTW vannila doesnt have loyalty in it and yet my generals frequently rebel. Which is y i generally have to send extra armies to support them in case they disband.

Thats odd i always have random generals around and they dont rebel and most of the time theres just the general in the army.
Are playing rome or another faction it could be that other factions have a better chance of rebel, also make sure your empire what ever size it is is being attacking or is losing alot of battles that will cause them to rebel also.

Well the thing is this happens no matter who i play as and normally it is with my larger armies. Ive been playing RTW for a while so i rarely lose against the AI. So im really confuzed about y it keeps happening.

If you use alot of mods or edit text then that may have something to do with it.

The only mod i have is xgm and it happened on my old comp too. One thing that doesnt make sense though is that it will stop for a while and then ill lose 3 or 4 armies at once. I dont even get a notification like it does if the revolt so it doesnt make any sense

It's the loyalty feature in XGM, check your generals loyalty by observing the amount or rings they have in their profile card. If its low don't give them a large Army as they may defect over to the rebels.

This is because your army is bribed by a Diplomat. They will also try to bribe your cities.

I would assign a spy and an assassin to each of your armies and kill every foreign diplomat you see.

It takes the AI a lot of money to do this, so the slower you play, the better chance the AI will have to do it. Also, some of the mods give the AI more money so they can do this.

I edited SPQR to put back 1 Turn Recruitment, the AI has a lot of money, so it uses spies, assassins, and diplomats a lot more.

I don't know if this counts, but I had 2 units of praetorians in a battle. I was fording a river and they decided to walk into the river and drown. I was laughing but that made me lose the battle...

XGM has a loyalty feature, but to put it bluntly, what your describing just doesn't happen. There's no feature that turns an army rebel and disbands half of it. This is further supported by the fact that it happened to your FL. a) even with loyalty, your FL can't rebel. He automatically has full loyalty. b) he also can't be bribed. There goes that theory. Also, with loyalty, the army will turn to the shadow faction, not the rebels.

Do a complete reinstall. That's all I can tell you.
