Wierdest problem

I have had M2 for about 8 months, I played for about 5 months with no problems stopped for about 3 and come back to play it agian and I get the wierdest thing. The game starts up with a black screen and the hourglass, then the video of sega plays but flashes repeatedly then if you go past that another black screen the bottom bar loads and your at the menu the main menu looks and acts just fine but then when you click campaign you get a bunch of giant white letters on top of your select your faction map. The select your faction map also flashes and then you can click go and on the campaign map itself it is a mess of flashing white letters and you can never exit without crtl alt delete becuase the regular way to leave pops up but then pops right back down. It played fine for 5 months and now when i come back to play it does this random mess. I think it might have to do with the resolution i dunno. I have a vista dell demension E521.

And I did reinstall it and it does the exact same thing. also i have rome total war and it works just fine.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. See if that helps.

Yes I have the lastest drivers, I think the windows updates screwed it up. I mean there would be no reason for it to just stop working since i didnt taper with any medieval files.

Did it come loaded with Vista? The review I just read still has XP.

Yes the computer already had vista on it. Its always had vista. I dont understand this problem. The comp had vista played m2 just fine and rome and m1 and shogun all just fine. Then i stop playing m2 for a few months come back and the game works horribly. Rome still works fine havent tried the other two games yet. Unistall and Reinstall didnt work cuase it has the same problem when you reinstall it. I'm stumped.

What programs have you installed between the time you stopped playing until you started playing, again? Be assured it's not a Vista problem.
