Default Holocaust denying bishop's excommunication lifted by pope

    From bbc.co.uk

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7856753.stm (Denial by Bishop Richard Williamson of major areas of the holocaust)

The Pope has received back into the Roman Catholic Church a bishop who has outraged Jews by saying the Nazi gas chambers did not exist. Briton Richard Williamson was among four bishops whose excommunications were lifted by Pope Benedict XVI last week. Briton Richard Williamson told Swedish television in November 2008 that he did not believe any Jews had died in gas chambers during the Second World War.
Mr Williamson, a member of ultra-traditionalist sect Society of St. Pius X was automatically excommunicated 20 years ago after being appointed as a bishop by a breakaway archbishop without papal consent.

Not a very clever move I must admit.
If what the video says is true, that the pope did it to get support from traditionalist, is holocaust denial apart of traditions for them now ??
Seems like the Pope screwed up, again.

clearly this pope wants to undo all the progress the former pope made, condemning his faith to doom rather than to flourish

and I find it hilarious some of you hate jews so much you would kill them for anyreason; saying you would personally help assault Israel-- well my good man, why wait? get off your ass and get to Israel and see how they deal with you.

Shocking the Catholic Church forgiving someone. Who would have thought that?

I guess, instead of forgiving holocaust deniers, we should just round them all up in concentration camps and throw them into the furnaces to see how they'd like it?

Holocaust denying is phrasing it pretty extremely, he just said he doesnt believe they were gassed, not that it didnt happen.

Dont see why he has to argue the point though, what difference does it make if they were gassed, burned or shot?

Anyway, he shouldnt be forgiven because he hasnt admitted he was wrong. Thats like forgiving a thief after he tells you he's gonna keep stealing.

Why? Its a way of simplifying something thats unnecessarily complicated.

And if you dont get the metaphor, what I'm saying is why does he deserve forgiveness? He hasnt admitted he's wrong or even apologized for it. Like the thief who continues to steal, why would we forgive him if tomorrow he's gonna do the same thing we were angry at him for?

There are dumbasses everywhere, even that high up in the system in the Catholic church. Not exactly groundbreaking news.

Because the death factories make the Holocaust unique from any other genocide in history.

I think the question is 'Can you believe something stupid and still be considered a good Catholic?'

Based on the population at large, I'd have to say that must be a yes.

Removing excommunication just means that enemy factions won't have a free go at him anymore...oh wait...

I mean removing excommunication is a spiritual level thing, its not saying the guys correct.

The pope is definitely going to have to shift-and-select more troops from his knight barracks and place them into his capital in order to keep the population level satisfied. Maybe increase some more spies there, as well...
