Are you kidding me! What is the government of FYROM trying to prove? That they're idiots?

"July 14, 2008: I think this is a case where Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are fundamentally sound. They're not in danger of going under. They're not the best investment these days from a long term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward. They're in the housing market. I do think their prospects going forward are very solid."

I wonder if the Muslims will consider themselves descendants of Vikings and Normans once they reach the majority in Norway. :hmmm:

And why do you care. There are Highways and roads named after all sorts of people in all sorts of countries that have nothing to do with each other. You greeks are so damn annoying. No one cares. Just to spite you I am going to propose naming a street in Canada after a famous greek.
Oh no! Plz, don't do it! Because we care so much about canada!
Then by your logic, italians should start calling themelves Romans and worshipping pagan gods like Mars and Jupiter. Heck, it all started there in italy, right? What wrong with trying to bring up ancient history when your people have absolutely NO cultural connection to it?
Those skopjans are being their own worst enemy.
It's in the Balkans. Therefore, that makes these atrocities direct attempts to challenge greek sovereignty on its Macedonian province.
When Canada actually gets its first colony inside the balkans, THEN i'll pretend to care about your oh so tender feelings for Fyrom!
Perhaps you should read up on Balkan history before you start showing us how ignorant Canadians seem to be as regarding world cultures? I'm a greek-american and I know more on this subject and the nature of Yugoslavia than you're showing so far. That's just sad.![]()
All I see is two countries trying to carve out national identities based on the history of the the region after being controlled by foreign powers for a long time. It just so happens that they decided to pick the same history and are now fighting over who has the right to that history. No ones sovereignty is under attack, especially greece's Macedonian province. And if naming a highway after Alexander the Great is a direct attack on Greek sovereignty then I'm Mickey Mouse.
This looks like a job for an expert mediator.
First let's find some middle ground: I think we can all agree it's a stupid name for a highway. Alexander had his Alexandria's among other great monuments to his glory, they may just as well name a hardware store after him. Alexander is just too big for the FYROM and the FYROM is just too small for anyone to give a damn what they do.
Settled?

Boooring.
It might piss people of when you try to steal their history.
There are a number of 'Wilson Roads' throughout Czech Republic and Slovakia, for example, but nobody is calling Woodrow a Slav.
Alexander was from that general region that the little Slavic country presently called Macedonia is a part of.
Yet you care a lot what some "FYROM" does.
Screaming bloody murder about naming some highway... ridiculous.
