Default The Age of the Second Empire- recruiting

The Age of the Second Empire

    Mod Leaders: Wolf Coat, helmersen.
    Members:
    polpolgio (coding and scripting),
    Masaky (ideas, names etc.),
    killerrabbit (ideas, symbols etc)
    Tommykrem: (Helping hand, names etc..)
    Nevada: "Researcher".

Ok, I've been having this idea for some time now and I would really like to see it come alive. Unfortunatly I dont know any modding, and Im therefore relying on modders to come and join the project. Ok, here are some few ideas:

    The Second Empire of Taurigia:

War, it all started with the first civil war in 52 B.FE (Before First Empire), when the, now the people of Damasca and the people of Taurigia, clashed over the lands. They had lived in harmony for many centuries, but then Argana was born. He was the one who lead the uprising Taurigins into fighing their equals.

The civil war lasted for 52 years, and ended with the Damascians fleeing the continent, travelling for unknown land. The newly elected emperor, Emperor Argana united the Empire under one banner and improved trade, military and education for all citizens in the empire.
After the death of Emperor Argana the Great, there was a great empty space in the Emperors throne, but after long discussions and great heated arguments, they managed to elect a new emperor and to construct a new system for the heir. Now the son of the Emperor is to be the next leader.
The First Empire lasted approximately for a thousand years, when the new rebellions started. The First Empire had lost much of its greatness after countless skirmishes and full scale campaigns against the barbaric raiders of the north and the armies of the somewhat mysterious south. The rebels were now lead by Cartagius, a strong man who was previously a veteran general and had lead many battles for the Empire.
The campaigns were hard and many lives were lost, but Cartagius's finally won the war in 1013 A.FE (After First Empire), and he would be the one who would lead the Empire into a new era, the era of the Second Empire of Taurigia. The lands of the Empire now lie in ruins after the last civil war, and the people who live in the far regions of the Empire are not pleased with the way things are done in the Imperial capital.

Bringing the Empire to its former glory will not be easy, only a general capable of being Emperor will succeed through this time of uncertainty.

Armies: Relies on specialized heavy infantry to smash through the enemy lines.

    The Kingdom of Damasca:

The past of the Kingdom is a rather disturbing one. After the great civil war in 52.B.FE, the people of Damasca hat to flee from the upprising Empire, and the first years of fleeing were not easy. Some of the people settled on the Isles of Bratonia, while some continued sailing for better lands.

Finally, in 286.A.FE the people of Damasca reached the shores of the western continent. The Damascians quickly settled and started growing vegetables and started hunting. In 357.A.FE, the Damascians finally became the Kingdom of Damsca, and the first king, Tuturos saw a way to bring the Kingdom to greater hights. He started military schools, and markets. The trade florished in the years to come, and the Kingom quickly expanded.

But the happy days would come to an end. The Kingdom of Dalmasca spotted unknown ships of the shores of their kingdom, ships they had never seen before. The soldiers of the kingdom marched north and found a people that didnt want to cooperate. They had found the Vaguelrs.

Bitter relations began to grow, because the Vaguelrs thought that the land of the Damascians was theirs.

But the Vaguelrs was on no real threat for the Kingdom of Damasca, as the view looked in the year of 689A.FE. However, the citizens of the Kingdom wanted their original lands back, wich they had lost from the upprising Empire in the great civil war in 52B.FE.

In the year of 910A.FE, the Kingdom of Damasca was invaded by the highly developed society of the Patolemic Empire. The Empire was in the south and also sought to conquer the lands of Damasca.

The Kingdom of Damasca has had a bright past, but it will maybe be harder to lead the Kingdom into an even brighter future..

Armies: Rely on strong heavy infantry, but also some light infantry.

    The Vaguelrs

While the Kingdom of Damasca and the Second Empire of Taurigia have had a hard struggle throughout the years, the Vaguelrians have had a time of relative peace, perfering to mind themselves of the business of their neighbours. The battle hardened warrior race came from the frozen seas of Staalian minor located to the south of their current postion in approximitly 1500B.FE and adapted ways to that of their semi nomadic neighbours, the people of Vaguelr began to commonly use horses in hit and run techniques, vastly adapting from there armoured skirmishers in past tribal warfare. It is said that the migration to the south was caused by contact with the empire that resulted in open warfare and the Empires driving out of the forigen Vaguelr it the form of a great Crusade.

As the Vaguelr moved further north, they conquered the deep, dark forests of Staalian major and slaughtered the native inhabitants, later to be known as the Uæthor "Forgotten". The Uæthor were murdered and displayed in the newly created sacred groves of the Vaguelr pagan gods.

The Vaguelrian tribes began to conquer and spilt their new lands amongst, nobles who have proven their worth in battle. In time the confederacy changed due to a new threat called the Kingdom of Damasca that the Vaguelr now faced, it was time for a King to rise and lead the Tribes under one banner, this king or Oætr was G'nuntt, a hero of the Vaguelrian people and the slayer of the serpent now carryed by standard bearers.

In the year of 689A.FE, the Vaguelrs met with new enemies, the Kingdom of Damasca. The fighting started around the year of 980A.FE when the Oætr ordered an attack on the new settlers in the outskirts of the Kingdom of Damasca. The Vaguerlians have sworn in conquering the land of their new enemy and have sworn in rædicca "sacred tounge" meaning such a promise can never be forgotten.

The Vaguerlian people had almost been exterminated by the great Empire in the south, will they now manage to defend their possition in the north? Or will the Kingdom of Damasca do what the Empire could not? It all depends worthy leader and the favor of the gods.

Distinguishing features: They're human but are known for their White eyes and dark black hair, they are also known to be of large build and strength, towering over the typical human.

Armies: The Vaguerlians rely on chain mail-wearing, bow carring, battle hardened horsemen skilled in the art of killing. Like the Vikings, they use light armour and strong warriors, often equipped with swords, axes, javelins or bows. They rely also heavily on the mounted warrior.

Will the Vaguerlian monarchy rise in power and regain their lost land, or will they decline as yet an other tradgedy of its power hungry neighbours.

The world consists of two large continents, kinda similiar to Europe-Africa and North/South America. The distance between the two continents are rather large, so there will be much of naval battles and invasions. The units will be from light/heavy infantry (peasents, archers, knights, dismounted knights etc..) to trolls and other "mythic" creatures. I would sugges that only the "evil" factions would be able to recruit them though.

    The Cramanian City States

While the war and hatred rages in the northern parts of the continent, a little country has understood the meaning of peace. In the year of 216 B.FE, refugees and political enemies from all parts of the continent joined forces to build a new and better land.

The new settlers worked great together, and managed to build a city in approximitly 80 years. They managed to build up trade and a small military, but their forces was way to small to even be combined with the might of the Damascian-Taurigian Lordships.

Unfortunately, in the year of 250 A.FE, different leaders of the States began to fight each other. This bitter struggle torn the country of wealth in two. The battles were hard, and the people of the States were the ones who really wanted peace.

Finally, in 314A.FE, Germnias I united the people, and peace was upon the land once more. The civil war had made people tired of war and struggle so a new system of government was established. A King would be the supreme head of state, while every city has its own lord. This was to establish peace, by using dialogue between the states instead of violence.

The Cramanian City States has felt war before, and would not want it again. Trade is flourishing in its cities and the people are satisfied. But not far from these lands are the armies of the Second Empire knocking on their door. If a war were to be, the Cramanian City States would need a leader worthy of the gods..

    The Patolemic Empire

The Patolemic Empire is one of the greatest nations in the known world. Unfortunately, much of their history is lost because of past civil wars and devastating battles. The earliest texts from the Empire is from 454 A.FE, when the first Emperor of the state got elected. He managed to drive out the remaining rebels that had raged war upon the Empire for decades.

The Patolemic Empire drove into a golden age, where trade and wealth slowly regained itself. The Empire had a huge military, and explored and conquered new lands.

However, not was all well. In the year of 903, the Empire had sent out a Wayteam to explore new lands, but lands was not the only thing they found. They had founf the Kingdom of Damasca, a strong nation.

The Emperor Gigantius III looked upon the Kingdom as a worthy opponent, and in 910 A.FE, he ordered he's soldiers to match for their gates. But the Empire found something else than a city and a nation. They found a people that didnt want to surrender. The battles became hard, and the Empire managed to take the city just before the general was about to call a retreat. But when the Damascian King got word of this, he wasnt happy.

The Emperor should have thought more when he decided to attack. But there is war, and its just a mighty leader who can either make peace, or conquer what rightfully belongs to the empire!

    The Duchy of Arasia

The Duchy of Arasia is a realm in the eastern Steppe. It's people are proud and strong, they watch their borders with an eagle's eyes. Decades ago, the First Empire tried to invade the vast lands of Arasia. The Arasians had only a small army to that time and the heavily armoured soldiers of the emperor crushed them easily in a battle close to the Western border. Now the Arasians were always retreating, burning their crops and poisoning their waters, so that the Imperial forces would be beaten by hunger, thirst and illnesses. After 2 months, the emperor had lost 3 quarters of his army due to these undefeatable enemies, but he had managed to lay siege on the capital of Arasia, the rich city of Garana. Day after day, the emperor's forces were crashing against Garan's high stone walls, ad day after day, they got defeated. One month later, a huge army of Arasians had gathered to lift the sege from their capital. They were lead by the Falcon helms, the elite cavalry of Arasia. These riders had been campaigning far in the south against marauding nomad tribes and it took them long to return to defend their homes. They were accompanied by other riders from the steppe, mainly horse archers. And just at the moment that the gates were opened by the Empire, the charge began and the gates of hell opened for the Imperial forces. The arrows were falling on the heavy armoured enemies of the Duchy, and they were so many that the sky was darkened by them. Not all hits were deadly and, due to the Imperial armour, most of the arrows didn't even hurt anyone, but several arrows found their way through small holes in the armour into Imperial flesh. Panic broke out and the Emperor was the first one to rout. The Arasians didn't follow him, but now the Falcon helms were charging into the demoralised Imperial forces and killed everyone. Except for the emperor and his small bodyguard, no man of the Empire survived the battle. In the aftermath of the butchering, some riders marched out to hunt the emperor, but he was to return back to his home alive, but clothed like a beggar to avoid being captured by the Arasians. The Arasians reconquered all the lost territories and then they rebuilt their homes and were waiting for revenge.

-Prince Kolo, 22nd ruler of Arasia, The darkest Hour.

Today, Arasia's superior cavalry is only waiting for the command of their ruler to invade the Second Empire and to to take the revenge they were waiting for so long.
It's cavalry is supported by strong militia forces that consist of willing citizens. They are well equipped and trained.

Im thinking of having different religions based on old ones, such as the Romans, the nordic one's etc. And emergent armies could have brought flavour to the game, like when you have captured or destroyed bla bla bla, this could happen and you would get this and that.

    What do you think?

    Ok, here is the map
Much better looking map made by Wolf Coat:

On religion, here's what Im thinkng:

The Second Empire will use the same religious buildings as northern european factions. We will not use christianity and islam as religions, but we use the same buildings as them, but give the religions different names and stories.

The Kingdom of.. or on the continent to the west will use the buildings for the southern european factions.

The different factions will have the same religion, but with digfferen view on them, such as protestans and catholics, sunni or shia. Please tell me what you think

that is a nice idea do you plan of adding something like a "pope" for the factions that have the same view of a religion?

Edit:what about steel empire for the empire like all of the empire soldiers are clad in full plate steel suit and all of the soldiers have the frighten foot bonus because of the dreaded look of the armor

the name of it being steel empire or the second steel empire because the first had fallen in a civil war and the rebels won you can even put some rebel provinces that are still loyal to the first empire and the first empire was "good".

are these the empire soldiers the first and the last one are good the second and third one could be used by the vassals

EDIT:a senate sounds cooler than a pope. maybe as a scripted event you can let the empire player choose if he want a theocratic state or a republic stile empire and depending of the choice you gain a senate or a council of bishops
