Icon2 Help with Medieval II and Rome freeze up

    Asus M2R32-MVP
    AMD 64 x2 dual core 6000 3.1 ghz
    4 g ram
    Windows xp sp3
    Soundblaster Live card
    GeForce 9400 gt video card

I consistently have the system freeze within one minute of being in the campaign map. As long as it is scripted such as the tutorial no problem, but shortly after entering any campaign the mouse stops working and the sound stops shortly thereafter. Screen is frozen and I must reboot. The same thing happens in both Rome TW and Medieval II. I have played both on my previous system and worked fine. I have Medieval II gold edition which came with the latest version 1.03 so I'm good there. Civ 4 and expansions work fine. I've only been running this system a few days so hopefully it will be something simple I just haven't thought of. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hmm you might try a reinstall of MTW. If that don't work, check to see that you are running the latest drivers for the important stuff like video, sound, motherboard etc.

Be sure you update directx 9 and .Net Framework. Windows updater many times doesn't find these so be sure to go to Microsoft's download site and do it manually. May save a lot of heartache later.
