I have come to wonder if EB 2 contains a viking faction...
I've never played EB 1 so I wouldnt know.
Just my curiosity taking over.

you're a few centuries early for that. The closest to a nordic faction you'll get are the Sweboz or possibly another Germanic faction in EB2
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...
There were Suiones and some other Scandinavian tribe out there. But both weren't even mentioned in Roman writings for most of the game period. So I doubt EB team will make them.
They would be very sad and lonely out there anyway. I'd rather have more Greek factions instead.
Yep. I didnt really think there would be one.
If I'm not correct, the scandinavian tribes at that time were actually people who were exiled or people who left to have their own land.
But those tribes quickly grew into the viking nations by medieval times.
It would be cool to have one in EB2, but you're right; they wouldnt really do anything and they'd be very isolated.
It is actually the reverse direction. All Germans/Germanics originate from Scandinavia. There used to be a vibrant Nordic Bronze age around 1500BC for some centuries, but cooling climate forced many southward. All the Goths, Sweboz, Rugiians, Vandals, etc etc originated in modern-day Sweden, Denmark, or Norway (to a lesser extent).
The Vikings were simply the last of the pagan Germanics to be affected by contact with Latin culture, obviously due to their seclusion.
well, I had the right idea, just backwards.
There really isn't enough in the way of sources to be able to recreate a faction in the Scandinavian region. In fact, there are few Germanic tribes during this time period that were unified enough to warrant inclusion as a faction.
Celtiberia would be soooo awesome! A Gallic/Lusottann mix of devestating barbarian infantry, quick skirmishers, and formidable calvary
Actually I remember reading about a recent dig in denmark, there they found lot's of roman items and were speculating about some king or chieftain there that had some diplomatic relations with the romans as a counter to other german tribes
Edit: found something about it on the Wiki
