Game Crashes after updating to 1.2
Ok, I don't know what's up. But my game works fine until I update to version 1.2. After I updated to version 1.2 my game just crash at start up. I kept reinstalling and removing and still doesn't work.

Re: Game Crashes after updating to 1.2
"16:15:52.540 [system.io] [warning] open: :替?v鞩@煗堾" is missing is your problem. It is a bad download. Best bet is download it, again, uninstall the game, reinstall it, and then install the 1.2.

Re: Game Crashes after updating to 1.2
Ever since I built my new machine I have had the same issue. I have tried everything. I am a long time MTW2, RTW, MTW, STW player and this has me completely stumped. The v1.2 update, no matter where it is downloaded from, including using my copy from ages ago I used to update the game on my old PC, just won't work and gives the error above. The update process goes very quickly. Before it would take a while as it updated the pack files.
I am resigned to never playing MTW2 again and waiting for ETW.
This issue is real guys.
I am running XP professional 32 bit, e6750, Gigabyte UD3R, 4GB RAM, GTW 280.

Re: Game Crashes after updating to 1.2
BTW, do a search on "cursor" in this forum and you'll see many folks have this issue and have given up on MTW2. Amazingly, a few have got it to work, but I'll be damned if I can get it to work by duplicating what they did.

Re: Game Crashes after updating to 1.2
I only got it to work one way and it took two or three downloads to get a good copy. If you have Kingdoms or Gold edition, it's included on the dvd.
The only way I could it was go into msconfig and turn off about everything but the firewall and Windows, use the first mirror site as it seems to be the most reliable, and disappear for a couple hours. Anything else seems to foul it up.
Since I can't afford Empire, I'll be here for a long while.

Re: Game Crashes after updating to 1.2
Thanks irishron, I have tried every current download source for the v1.2 patch, every version of it, including the one on my Kingdoms Disk, and my golden copy from when I downloaded the patch when it was first released many moons ago.
So you are saying that you too have had this problem? And what you did to get it to work was turning off most of everything?

Re: Game Crashes after updating to 1.2
Yes, by turning off almost everthing. This thing being so big I almost had my firewall block my internet connection so the antivirus couldn't update in the middle of it. Autoupdaters are its biggest enemy, even Microsoft's. Right behind it are IMs.
Good luck.
