Can mods improve Graphics / AI significantly?

My comp is terrible and I can't play Med 2, but I am about to buy a new one.
I have heard complaints about the graphics and AI and wondered to what extent they have been improved with mods? Has anyone made mods that VASTLY improve the landscape/nature, or the way the soldiers look? To what extend has the AI (calvary charges, troop movements, etc) been improved (or NOT!) and which mods are best? thanks

oh also, were there graphics improvements from the first medieval 2 to the second add-on, or were they basically the same? how much better?

You can try ENBSeries, it adds just a bit but you get a much better atmospherical feeling this way.

Graphics not really except maybe for better skins and flags for factions but that is not really graphics in my eyes.

Modder's units make the vanilla units bland and boring in comparison. As for AI, well all mods claim to make the AI better than ever so it's up to you to judge. Check out Broken Crescent or Ruisichi TW for awesome units.

Some mods have minor graphical improvements but there are limitations to the game engine that modders can't change. However there are plenty of mods that improve the AI signifcantly. Darth mod, Stainless Steel, Lands to Conquer to name but a few. You can find all these in the hosted modifications thread.
