Default is there a way to disable trading ships and trading caravans?

I want to disable the ships that simulate how much trade is going through the port and the caravans that simulate how much trade is going in the city. Is there a way?

Why? I love it. There is no better thing than to see how prosperous your settlement is.

I wouldn't mind the old style smaller boats to stop the map-clog. Have the caravans changed in appearance too?
    OP: sorry I don't know

Yes, you should use small unit size (in case you don't already know, it's under game settings). You should remember to change it to your preferred size before you start a new campaign, play as usual but next time you play change it back to small. It will not mess up your game; the only downside is that unit cards will show wrong number of soldiers, but everything else will be fine.

P.S. this is mainly for people who own weak graphic cards, because drop in fps is enormous. I had about 40 fps at the start of the campaign, but only 10 when the trade developed. Doing this restored my fps.

But wouldn't that also decrease the number of soldiers in the battle (like instead of units of 120 soldiers, you get 60).

No, because savegame contains information about real unit size; game setting is used for new campaigns only.
