Good for Iraq, at last there is some progress to making it a somewhat stable democracy ( though I may be getting my hopes too high). However, I still stand by my opinion about getting out of Iraq now.

All I hear is Yap Yap Yap Yap...
Uggg...
The rightness or wrongness of the invasion is quite irrelevant. Instead of hearing debate on the Iraqi Elections, whether they will be meaningful or not we get the same partisan.
And by foreign influence, I mean Iranian and American...
In case you didn't know Maliki is trying to fight to be seen as not an American puppet as that would destroy him in the elections.

http://www.aawsat.com/english/news.a...ion=1&id=14185The leader of the National Front for the Salvation of Iraq affirmed that they will win the upcoming provincial council elections and the parliamentary elections because "the Iraqis trust us and trust our patriotism. The great victory we achieved against terrorism shows that we are not sectarians and that our alliance welcomes our brother Shias. They are Iraqis first and foremost. I believe it is shameful to talk in a sectarian style; we are the farthest as can be from sectarianism. We protected and defended our Shiite brethren and Shiite families that sought shelter in our province both during the Iraqi-Iranian war and during the recent events". Hatim said, "Our front's goal is to crush the sectarian sedition, affirm our Arab identity, and restore Iraq to its Iraqi identity distant from alien sectarian divisions". He pointed out, "What we have accomplished so far is just the beginning and we are preparing for the rest. We seek to cut down to their real size the parties that are using Islam as a cover. These Islamic parties want to marginalize the role of Iraq and steal the people's funds in the name of religion and the sect".
I'm hoping this guy does well...

Though I don't think Iraq would instantly collapse should the US leave, the chance of it doing so increases, and the chance of it being left severely weak is likely. US forces need to remain until at least the Parliamentary Elections this year.
Apparently the Secular Sunni Nationalists (as in Iraqi Nationalists, not sectarians) hate the Sunni Islamic Party and are looking to gain heavily in the provincial elections.

By reading these comments it proves the media did an EXCELLENT job in telling you all lies and. Pretty amazing how the media runs your sad little lives..
Why are you sad?
As far as Iraq's stability, that's completely up to its people and that's an excellent job for international security forces. Not the armed forces of the United States of America. It should not be our policy to take all thein the world while Europe runs and hides. I don't mean to be insulting but I'm sick of even Americans insinuating that the all the world's problems are our responsibility.
