    Default What's next after England?

My current full campaign with England on H/H is about to wrap-up. I think I have 44 regions. The only other campaign I have completed was Teutonic.

What should I play through next?

I'm looking for a medium challenge. I play England as the archer/artillery faction, so I'm looking for something different. (Well, this time I had many Templar knights for cavalry, also.) Maybe a gunpowder-centric faction or one with a lot of good heavy infantry. :hmmm:

I tried playing through the Turks in Kingdoms but unfortunately it was GG once the Mongols showed up at the Baghdad front gate.

I'm thinking Denmark, HRE, Byzantine, Spain, or Milan.

Basically just looking for suggestions to kill the time before Empire comes out!

I had a fun spanish campaign
You don't have to worry about the mongols with that one

He who wishes to command must know what it's like to obey.

The Venice campaign is quite a fun one. I've played through it twice. Given their starting position, you can expand however you choose which is fun.

I loved playing with Denmark...they have some quality infantry. Probably my most fun campaign I've had was with Denmark!! Once I saw the Timurids coming though...I decided that campaign was over.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

    Sith_Lord,

How do you play Venice? What do your late game armies look like?

In my current campaign, I own Venice. They make way too many crossbows and my Templars just tear them up.

    Leonidas,

Denmark was my first thought...mostly a heavy infantry faction, right?

OK so here are my suggestions for you and why:

    - Danemark
They have a great unit roster
Their starting positions is very good
Arthus and Stockholm are very good to make money
War Cleric are awesome and unique.

    - Sicily is also nice:
    Starting postion
Good money making cities (this goes for all Italian cities)
Your border North is protected by Rome(the Pope)
A bit different units fomr the other italian factions like: Normand Knight, Muslim Archers

    - I don't now why I like Hungary:
they got the Hugarian assassins(Same as the turks Hashashim)
They are just different, they play differently.

    - Venice
I liked them in my first campaign
The have nice units and I like their colors
    Nice roster.

    So your choice

Who has the best or most interesting late game?

England seemed to top out pretty early, and the late game buildings didn't give me much new stuff at all.

If you are looking more for Venice and late tech. They have nice Heavy infantry plus great Archers in the late game. IMO they lack a bit of cavalry

If you want gunpowder, forget Byzantium - they get a bombard, that's it! I had a fun, challenging time playing as Milan - it's easy to tech up to gunpowder units with them. The Italians are great for gunpowder, they have among the most advanced technologies.

HRE has some nifty gun-cavalry, but they're not really specialists and their economy can be a bit on the weak side. Combined with the need to support many armies to fight wars on all fronts, it might be difficult to tech up to gun-infantry.

I say go for Venice or Milan.

I agree here plus Venice as the Monster Ribault which IMO is unique and nice artillery. The only thing is that they are short range.

Go one of the Italian factions and fight for domination of the Italian city states and the favour of the papacy. I promise you it will be a fun and tough campaign of which the spoils of victory will be great. All the italian factions get fabulous late technology, I think Sicily starts off with an advantage though in the beginning, due to them being able to access Norman Knights and Muslim archers, both of which are very good units. They also have the most developed castle in Palermo at the beginning of the game so that is easily upgraded within 20 turns to produce very nice units.

Try something hard, like Ireland, they're really hard. But I think they're only available in Stainless Steel. Denmark is loads of fun aswell, and like the user above said, Italian factions are really fun, especially when you control all of italy.

Once you've got all of Italy, you'll probably never worry about money again.

Portugal is great for gunpowder-centric armies. They have great pikes in the late game and their unique Arquebusiers are actually rather good in close combat.

France is just about invincible in the late game with their professional armoured pikes, Adventurier, effective artillery, and elite Lancers.
