    Default messing up formation

So I just started playing S.P.Q.R. after starting to play Rome: Total War again.

now, the question I have is, why do my units leave the formation they are in and go in to a single line when ever I move them...this occur when I try to move the whole army at once, it occurs both in pre-battle set up and when I am advancing and getting ready to attack.

This occurs both pre-Marius and post-Marius

the post-Marius army's are composed in the same way stated in the house rules and the pre-Marius one If I remember correctly had 1 or 2 more hastati than principes, but the next battle i fought with them they worked normally.

Maybe you group them together? Try not having units in groups and move them manually or all at once but without groups.

nope, I didn't have any groups formed...the only way I can get them back to a some what regular formation is to make them one giant group and select a formation (can't remember which one) but when I do that everything is back where it should be except the second line of troops is at the rear of the formation instead of in the middle.

Its an RTW bug with 1.5 patch. Nothing you can do sometimes it happens most of the time it doesnt. Grouping has the worst bugs for some reason. There was alot CA didnt fix

Yeah, it really sucks when they don't stay together.

If I start the fight, what I usually do is get my formations set pre-battle, put them in groups, then once the battle starts drag each group to exactly where I want them to go. It's a pain, but fixes the problem of having them go into a straight line.

Normally it works well if you place all the units how you want them, group all, disband group and group all again. This way, you can drag around your custom-made formation anyway you like, and they will stay that way. Try it
