    Default Strange Affects Compiling Error

    Got this:

    18:09:54.812 [script.err] [warning] Trigger parsing warning in auh/data/export_descr_character_traits.txt, at line 1373, column 30 :
we should only have trait(50LossesCounter) additional affects for triggers(50to49Losses)
    The lines in question:

    Code:
    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger 50to49Losses
        WhenToTest PostBattle

        Condition IsGeneral
              and WonBattle
              and PercentageEnemyKilled > 25
              and BattleOdds < 4
              and Trait 50LossesCounter > 0

        Affects 50LossesCounter -1 Chance 100
        Affects 49LossesCounter 1 Chance 100
The red is the column in question. Having this with pretty much all the subtracting triggers. Anyone who works a lot with traits care to explain the logical reasoning behind the error? Because obviously subtractive values are permitted, but there's also obviously something amiss.

I would ignore it as its just a warning - maybe some old leftover code.

Still getting this by the way on subtractive Affects. Anyone else who has a mod with subtractive affects care to check their log file and see if this is legacy code? This is the only error in my log file that I don't know for a fact is legacy or have added to the imagery to-be-resolved list, so it's driving me nuts.

I would bet that in the actual trait you have some anti traits or some other limit in place?

        Level Heir_Apparent
            Description Heir_Apparent_desc

            Effect Authority 1
            Effect PersonalSecurity 2
    	Effect Level 1
    Code:
    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger factionleader
        WhenToTest BecomesFactionLeader

        Affects Factionleader 1 Chance 100

    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger heir_to_leader
        WhenToTest BecomesFactionLeader

    	Condition Trait Factionheir = 1

    	Affects Factionheir -1 Chance 100
The above triggers were initially one trigger, but I thought it was asking me to separate them, so I tried that. The only limit is "family", which should be required for the BecomesFactionLeader event anyways.

This is an old thread, that was the trait that was doing it before. Since that time I removed the counter traits from the EDCT, because it was proving to be more of a headache than it was worth(the initial intent was to monitor and generate a system of traits so that the win-loss ratio of each general could be stored). The traits posted there are now the ones with the same problem.

The only suggestion that I have is based on a RTW issue with using negative points towards a trait. In RTW if you do this everything appears to work, but if the trait has any effects (like your heir trait) those effects don't get removed even if the trait does get removed. The way around it is to use antitraits for any trait that has effects. Since you didn't post the original trait that caused the problem I can't say if this is your problem as well, though it's possible that m2tw just doesn't like negative trait points being allocated.
