Problem! City names not displayed

Hello all,

I have searched the forum and the internet for help without luck. I would appreciate it if someone could provide help to the following problem.

I am playing m2tw:kingdoms (vanilla) and it was playing fine until today when I loaded it and I found that the city names were no longer displayed on the map, however, every character's name from diplomat to general is displayed on the main map.

How can I return return this to normal?

Change your video settings? Add any new software?
In your medieval2.preferences.cfg, make sure label_settlements = 1. If it doesn't make it that way and make the file read-only.
